Acer Spin 5

The improved Acer Spin 5 model comes in at 13 and 15 inch versions, so you can choose which model you would like to purchase. Acer included some new features like the eighth-gen Intel Core processors, a clearer screen, better stylus support and a better keyboard for people typing. The model is quite stylish and the metal build is glistening while being solid as a rock. The bad thing is, that the labtop is slightly heavier weighing at 3.31 pounds. 13 inch convertibles from Samsung and Hp weigh 2.5 pounds which is quite a big difference if you ask me.

The Acer Spin 5 comes with a stylus that is great for taking notes and drawing but unfortunately, there is no place for owners to store their stylus on the labtop. Even though the Acer Spin 5 is not made specifically for watching videos/shows, it can be used as your TV alternative whenever you want to use it. Its clear and bright screen displays bright colors with wide-viewing angles and the speakers, which are located above the keyboard, are impressively loud. Audio quality will suffer at maximum volume and distortions, but lowering it will help avoid it.

The specs of the screen contains 13.3-inch IPS screen, 1920×108-pixel resolution with a 16:9 screen ratio. There is also a special mode, called the tent mode which is made especially for watching videos or shows in a tight space. When watching, the labtop’s hinges are sturdy and holds its position firmly. The down side is that the speakers face the opposite direction of the screen which directs the sound away from the viewer. Even though, the nuisance is small it is noticeable.

The good side about the Acer Spin 5 is that it has a useful convertible design with a sturdy and current build. It has a solid keyboard, stylus support, surprisingly loud speakers and long battery life. The only bad side is that its quite heavy. Other than that, it has a pretty good price and i would get this computer for work as it seems really good. The price that it is starting at is $700.

Lenovo Yoga 920

The Lenovo Yoga 920 keeps everything i liked about its predecessor, the 910, and fixes almost everything i didn’t. A world-class performance, standout style and immersive entertainment, the Lenovo Yoga 920 is in a league of its own. Sleeker than ever and packed with speed and power to streamline your day: long-range voice-activated support, a nearly edgeless 4K display( 2160p) a resolution of 3840 pixels × 2160 lines, an optional digital pen featuring pinpoint accuracy, and more. Stand apart.

Image result for Lenovo Yoga 920

The Lenovo Yoga 920 adds in Intel’s latest eighth-generation Core i-series processors that do deliver better performance while keeping its battery life good and long. Priced at SGD$2100, in my opinion it can be lesser and cheaper to be more affordable. But Lenovo Yoga 920 features can actually make up for that. Lenovo Yoga 920 is also slim and able to fit into most laptop bag and being easy to bring around. Its design is also a great feature. Being attractive and slick, it can make most people “wow!” on the laptop.

Image result for Lenovo yogA 920

From the super slim bezels around its display to the sturdy all-metal chassis to its unique watchband 360-degree hinge, the 920 looks and feels like a premium laptop. At 1.4 kg, it’s a little heavy but far from a burden and forgivable considering you’re getting a 13.9-inch screen in the same space as a typical 13.3-inch laptop. Plus at half an inch thick (12.7 mm), it easily slips into most laptop bag.

Image result for Lenovo Yoga 920

The precision touch pad stays just about perfect. Fingers glide easily over its smooth surface, and you would never experienced any cursor jumps caused by a brush from your palm. There are multi touch gestures that are easily adjusted within Windows’ settings, so you can turn off controls like pinch-to-zoom or three-finger swipes if you want. A fingerprint reader to the right of the touch pad lets you sign in quickly with Windows Hello, which makes your login smooth and fast.

Overall i think Lenovo Yoga 920 is a great laptop and worth your money.

Bose QuietComfort 35 II

The Bose Quiet Comfort 35 II, a comfortable and wireless noise-cancelling headphone, can be said as the best headphones ever created. Its features are just like  Bose Quiet Comfort 35, but this time with a twist. The Bose Quiet Comfort 35 II is the first headphone to integrate Google Assistant.

Image result for qc 35 II

Instead of talking to your phone to access Google Assistant , you can just press and hold the Action button on the Quiet Comfort 35 II and issue commands such as “Tell me what is the weather today,” “call Troy” and “What are some good Korea restaurants nearby?” You can also use your voice to control your music playback and compatible smart devices in your home. There is also a app “Bose Connect app”, choosing noise-cancellation levels, toggling between Low, High and Off with each button press. It is an important feature for those who may be sensitive to the feeling of light pressure that can be the by-product of active noise-cancellation.

Image result for qc 35 II cup

This awesome headphone is also comfy fit and top-notch noise cancelling. For iPhone users,  you can access Siri on iPhones and having long lasting battery life at up to 20 hours in wireless mode with noise cancelling on.

I think that Bose Quiet Comfort 35 II  is the best product for 2017 because of its dedicated button for Google Assistant, but it can be programmed for other functions. Retains its predecessor’s top-of-the-line active-noise canceling, excellent wireless Bluetooth sound and extra-comfortable design. Works in wired mode with included cord if battery dies. Which makes me say that the Bose Quiet Comfort 35 II is worth its price and a need for music lovers to have it.

Image result for qc 35 II cup

Now lets talk about the Bose Quiet Comfort 35 II disadvantages, its battery isn’t replaceable and has same apparent design and performance as previous model, Bose Quiet Comfort 35. These disadvantages is not much compared to Bose Quiet Comfort 35 II design and advantages.

Overall, i think that Bose Quiet Comfort 35 II is worth its price, but Quiet Comfort 35 owners don’t need to upgrade,as the addition is only a dedicated Google Assistant button, which gives the already excellent wireless noise-cancelling headphone an extra bit of personality.

iPad Pro (10.5-inch, 2017)

iPad Pro (10.5-inch, 2017)

The iPad Pro (10.5-inch, 2017) is a great update to the already amazing iPad Pro (9.7, 2016). With its larger screen and very fast processing, the new iPad Pro can even stand in some laptops.

Features

The new iPad Pro comes with a handy stylus with you can use to interact with the the tablet with more precision, and helps when you try to draw some picture. The iPad also has a a 12-megapixel rear camera with a True Tone flash feature and a 7-megapixel front camera, pretty good cameras in you intend to take pictures with it. It also has touch Id, allowing you to lag in using your finger tips.

Operating system

The current operating system that the iPad Pro is currently using is IOS 11, allowing users to drag and drop and open three apps at the same time with  one hovering above the other two splitscreen ones.

How it compares to other devices

Against:

iPad Pro(9.7-inch,2016):  iPad Pro (10.5-inch, 2017) is a slightly superior version of its predecessor, with a quicker Touch ID button, slightly bigger key board and slightly bigger screen, without sacrificing much in the factor of weight. It is clearly the better device.

Microsoft Surface Pro (2017): The Microsoft Surface Pro runs Windows 10, which trumps over the iPad Pro’s IOS 11, with Windows 10 being able full versions of traditional Win32 software as well as Java apps and Flash, all of which the IOS 11 cannot compete with. Not only that, the Windows 10 can multitask with 3-4 tabs, more than the 3 of the IOS 11. For the Microsoft Surface Pro, they have basic Type Cover is $129 with fancier color versions covered with Alcantara fabric for $169. For the iPad Pro, Apple’s Smart Keyboard is $159. Both keyboards provide an amazing typing experience, but the basic Microsoft keyboard is cheaper, has hinges to adjust the screen and has a track pad, beating Apple’s Smart keyboard out of the water.

Pros

The iPad Pro (10.5-inch, 2017) is a clear improvement over the previous iPad Pro, making it the superior iPad, almost able to replace some laptops.

Cons

With worse accessories and operating system compared to the Microsoft Surface Pro(2017), it is objectively the worse than the Microsoft Surface Pro(2017).

Overview

Despite being a great device, that people who love the Apple brand should enjoy.

Dell XPS 27

The Dell XPS 27 is a Windows 10 PC. It has excellent display and reasonable performance. More notably, it has the most refined sound system built into a PC, and a UHD 4K display, making it very suitable for home entertainment.

It provides the choice of Core i5 or i7 processors. You can choose a touchscreen display or a non-touchscreen but brighter display. It has a total of 10 speakers(although only 6 is visible) that provide great audio. It can provide extremely loud audio with little distortions. It provides rich, accurate sounds at low volumes, proving its audio system very sophisticated.

Operating system Windows 10 Home (64-bit)

While it isn’t usually used for gaming, it certainly can be. It can provide midlevel-frame. As long as you aren’t too hung up on the frame rate or need to max the quality settings. You can configure it to deliver decent game play with basic VR capability.

It does have its downsides though. It has cables that run from the back which might be fine for some people, but if you need to use the USB ports regularly, you would face several difficulties. In order to reach the ports, one would need to contort their hand awkwardly to reach it, and one would have to try to reach blindly. Otherwise they would have to rotate the entire PC which is difficult as it has rubber legs that increase friction. It also weighs about 17kg. It doesn’t have the best design for an all-in-one, and the webcam is poorly placed.

Overall this PC has terrific audio quality, excellent visuals and although not designed to do so, it can be used for gaming as well. Though it does has its downsides, I would say that its worth the money and I would recommend it to friends and family if they are in need of a decent PC for a reasonable cost.

Rules of Survival

Rules of Survival is a battle royale type of game in which you are sent into a world with other players. You all are driven by an aeroplane and the player must decide where to alight anywhere on the map. Once you eject the plane, you freefall down then until halfway you parachute down. When you eject down there is a joystick for you to control the speed of how fast you want to drop to the ground. Once you reach the ground, you are without weapons, you have to go houses and other places to find guns and equipments. (i.e. Ak-47, 2x Scopes, med kit, helmet, backpack etc.)

And there will be a restricted zone where you can go only. Once you exceed the safe zone, the screen will turn green , signalling that you have exceeded the zone and chipping away at your life points constantly. As more and more people gets killed, the safe zone will also shrink, eventually forcing the remaining survivors to meet each other and kill each other. The last man standing wins the match. As you win a match, you earn points and your rank goes up.

You can play with your friends as there are different kind of game modes. You can play with your friends by inviting him. To prevent your account from being lost and to allow your account to be transferred to another phone, I suggest you bind your account via Facebook, google play accounts or game center. Those who wants to get accessories to mod your character, you can do so by choosing what you want and pay via app store or google play. You can also earn credits to buy accessories by playing matches.

Overall, I think Rules of Survival is a pretty interesting game that tests your skills and luck. I think people who love survival games should try this game.

Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy

Probably the most frustrating game I have came across, Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy uses a simple concept of flinging yourself up using a tool and made it a extremely addictive (and frustrating) game to play.

The game uses different surfaces to make each “stage” more difficult. By that I mean from climbing normal rocks at the start to ascending icy mountains. Bennett Foddy design the game in such a way that when you fall from a section you are most likely to end up not too far behind. However if you are to fall down again, you will end up even further back. Therefore it is essential that you be alert when you fall not to fall again and lose more progress. Aside from flinging yourself up to ascend further. You can place the hammer under you and push yourself up. Be careful of how you position yourself as your character’s lower half is replace with a cauldron so you can slide off the surface in a matter of seconds.

The experience of the game can be both satisfying and annoying at times. Imagine reaching the last level of a game and losing your progress in one wrong move, repeatedly. The satisfaction comes when you finally get over every obstacle that you may come across. Bennett Foddy created the different “stages” by making a way in which will be hard to fall even further back so it works like a checkpoint. The game used the simple concept of flinging yourself up with a hammer and made the game challenging by testing you on how well can you put that concept into action and be flexible about it. Once you reach the top, you will be shown the credits and a short note from Bennett Foddy himself. After that there will be a secret reward.

The game is developed by Bennett Foddy. The game was released as part of the October 2017 Humble Monthly, on October 6, 2017 where it was played by over 2.7 million players. A Steam version of the game was later released by him on December 6, 2017. The game was also released on iOS that same day.

Sony MDR-1A

The Sony MDR-1A is the successor of the discontinued MDR-1R, a so-called “premium” version of this product. People liked the previous model as it is known for being extremely comfortable. The MDR-1A is better, thanks to some improvements.

The design of the earcup is different but, it’s still keeping that exquisite design, adding on softer padding and cushions that are slightly angled to fit your head better. The design on the MDR-1A is a bit more textured compared to the MDR-1A.

One of the biggest design changes is the earcups rotation, the way that its facing in the opposite direction. Why would I mention that ? Its because the headphones can rest with their pads down. Which is more convenient when its resting on your neck. Means that it feels more comfortable we are wearing it around our neck and not listening to them.

Without any cables attached to the headphones, the mass of the headphones would be 225 grams which is slightly lighter compared to MDR-1R which is 240 grams, which doesn’t matter as it is still considered lightweight for an over-ear model. There is also another small design change to the cable connector on the headphones. On the MDR-1A, the connector is replaced with a gold ring.

When you get the headphones, the company also provides you two standard 1.2 meter cables, one of them has a button inline remote and microphone. It adapts towards Android and Iphones. But if you are using Android, you can use the SmartKey app to customize the button controls.

The MDR-1A is for audiophiles-those people who wants to hear the sound as accurately as possible, so there’s no jacked-up bass. It’s also one of the most comfortable headphones around, so you can listen to it without weariness. If you coincidentally have the older version of this product, the MDR-1R, you can try to compare both products to see which is better in audio. If you switch back to the MDR-1R, you will tend to find out that the bass is thicker, muddier and less clear.

So, all of these so-called premium headphones, that you like really comes down to your own choices. Like I said before, the clarity of the audio can beat down so many other types of headphones not only that but its very useful headphone that is well-worth considering if you’re looking for headphones “worthy” for you. The price of the headphone is roughly S$250-S$300 range.

Honestly, I would buy this headphone as not many type of headphones are around in the world. Given that it has so much more advantages compared to other products in the world, that would convince so many people to buy this product. Even though it is expensive, I would still recommend to buy this product as it is worth it to me and hopefully, many other people as well.

DJI Spark

The five colours of the DJI Spark:                                                                      Blue,Green,Red,White,Yellow.

The drone that I will be doing today is the DJI Spark. Its advantage is that it is light, has a very good camera, can sense obstacles and dodge it and has gesture controls. It is suitable for taking good pictures. But the gesture mode can only take pictures and it flies for a very short time.

The app is not very efficient , especially on phones with small screens and frustrates the user. In general, it a good camera in a small flying package.

With a affordable price of $468.49, like a efficient camera , you can get many good functions of this portable camera. At first, DJI Mavic Pro($999) with its features like the compact folding design, it went to the top ranking amongst the drones. But after the appearance of the Spark in may, everyone forgot the rest of the drones and only remembered this one.It has many features like the Mavic such as dual-band GPS and a visual positioning system to let it “float” 30 feet above the ground without falling.

For the Spark, there is a bundle for you to get a set of prop guards, extra props, batteries for only $699. You save $154, so why not get this bundle right? It comes in five colours- blue, green, red ,white ,yellow.

How do you operate it?Simple.

Just power on the blades of the Drone, put it in your hands and your face. facing the camera, tap twice of the power button. The camera scans your face.Simple as that.

I personally think this Drone is great for people who love flying objects, love to take pictures and people who likes cool and trending stuff. Basically, it has a great camera quality in a small package but it cannot hover in the air for long.

DJI Phantom 4 Pro

The DJI Phantom 4 Pro is another drone for photographers to use. The DJI Phantom 4 Pro almost seems like it was made for that exact purpose with automated camera functions, robust controls, and a max speed of  72kph (45mph).

Specifications:

  • 1388g (3.06 pounds)
  • 350mm diagonally (13.7 inches)
  • Approx 28 minutes flight time
  • Controller with flight and camera controls (optional touchscreen)
  • 72kph (45mph)
  • Front and rear collision detection

The automated camera functions means that you do not need to control the camera on your own to do the same things over and over again. The 28 minutes flight time would mean that you do not have to constantly land your drone and recharge it and can continuously take a series of photographs. Having a controller with flight and camera controls to control the drone would be like playing a video game on your phone. Collision sensors on the sides would allow you to know when your drone bumps into something. The one on the bottom would allow for safer landings and the infrared sensors would allow it to know where it is in a confined space.

The return-to-home function has a range of 300 meters. The function allows the drone to go back to a specific location that you can set as long as that location is within the range. That is where the infrared sensors come in handy as you can get it to go into confined spaces like your house. The drone, using the infrared sensors, would be able to navigate through the area on its own when returning home.

The chunky controller has not changed from the DJI Phantom 4. Of course the price is more expensive due to the additional Pro features.

Now onto the drone itself. It has a carry case which as the name suggests can carry items in it. The propellers can be easily removed and clipped on for the ease of setup.

Camera Specifications:

  • 4K video at 60fps
  • Max video bitrate 100Mbps
  • 128GB MicroSD
  • 20-megapixel, 1-inch CMOS sensor
  • Mechanical shutter
  • Aperture control f2.8-f11

The specifications are what you would usually find in a camera drone.

2 of the drone functions include ActiveTrack and Tapfly mode. ActiveTrack allows the drone to follow a subject by flying sideways or backwards. Tapfly mode, which works backwards now, allows the drone to fly to a location which you will determine by tapping on the screen and you can rotate the drone or tilt the camera without changing its path. The software can handle the gimbal’s smooth sweeps and tracking better than you can, and that is what’s worth the price for interested photographers.

The drone comes with a beginners mode where it restricts the top seed and steering. Once you are more comfortable with flying it, you can always remove the beginner mode anytime you feel like.

I personally feel that the price is worth it for the wide variety of functions and the complexity of each function. The functions are easy to use and can easily help one out in sticky situations.

The DJI Phantom 4 Pro costs on an average of $1,500USD.
