Plantronics Voyager Legend

Plantronics Voyager Legend

Advantage: Smaller and lighter then other typical headsets. Very clear sounds can be heard from the headset and its design is very innovative and ingenious. It is very smooth so people feels good when they wear it.

Disadvantage: Its large boom mic arm is. Its tip do not form a secure audio zip.

Generally: The microphone is not for people who likes to keep up with the trend but is for people who love talking for its clear music quality and its comfortability.

Let’s kick off by talking about its design and its origin. Plantronics has been in the market since the arrival of the Jet Age and popular days of the Apollo space program. This event displays the company’s latest Bluetooth Headset, the $99.99 Voyage headset. It is definitely a famous name but created as a product after the Plantronics Voyager Pro Plus, and the Legend does the unexpected. Improved, it has a better quality, it is smaller, it is easier to wear and its battery life lasts longer. It is still incomparable to minute headsets but if clear sound quality is the main thing you want, then this will be the best headset for you .

This contraption is one of the best headsets created these days. Its well-respected design makes it more bulky than its rivals such as Motorola Elite Silver, Jawbrone Era, or even Plantronic’s own M55. It is beautiful compared to Jedra Supreme. Compared to the Supreme, it has a great feel made from plastic. Although its ear loop is wide , but it provides maneuver in easy touch. The ear loop’s bottom poses a robust power.

I feel that generally this product is very worthwhile the deal and a very good option for buying. It costs only $99.99  so the more you should buy it.

Pokemon Sun & Moon

Pokemon Sun and Moon is newly released on November 2016 to commemorate the Pokemon franchise’s 20th anniversary.

Following the usual story line of almost all the Pokemon games, you will be a Pokemon trainer training Pokemons with your friends in the Alola region which is based on Hawaii. The objective of this game in the story is to defeat/stop the criminal organization, Team Skull, while battling other Pokemon trainers along the way.

The game introduced 81 new Pokemon species and includes new features such as Alolan forms of previous Pokemons, powerful moves called Z-Moves, powerful creatures known as Ultra Beasts, updated battle and training mechanics, and improved polygonal 3D graphics. The game also has Mega Evolution which evolves Pokemon into a better form. Just like Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire, Pokemon Sun and Moon has almost the same story plot.

Alike the other previous Pokemon games, it contains similar and more features like being able to customize your own character in Pokemon X and Y.

The game takes places in the Alola region which consists of mostly islands. You start off by moving in to the region and you meet Professor Kukui. Unfortunately, Professor Oak is not around (Professor in other Pokemon games) and instead his cousin Samson Oak will be taking his place and Professor Kukui being the leading scientist. You then continue on into the normal situation where you have to save someone from a Pokemon or witness someone getting saved from a Pokemon and from there you continue on with the story.

The game was very well received by people and critics and it even shipped over 10 million units worldwide within a week, becoming one of the fastest selling games in Nintendo’s history.

Pokemon Sun and Moon costs £32 and £35 respectively on Amazon and GAME. I personally feel it is worth it as the game is quite different from the usual game mechanics.

Sony H.ear On Wireless NC

The Sony H.ear On Wireless NC is Sony’s latest wireless headphone to be on the market. Being quite similar to Bose’s QuietComfort 35, H.ear has an edge over QuietComfort in a few ways.

H.ear On Wireless NC is only 290 grams heavy, just slightly heavier than the QuietComfort and not as comfortable. However, with some parts of the headphone being not as elegant, it will take a while for you to fatigue. It is folds up into an included carrying case, though it does not fold flat. The case is also very bulky too. Aesthetically, H.ear comes in 5 colours, some of which are really striking.

Sound and track control are on the right ear cup, and you can choose to have noise cancelling on or off. You can also plug in a cord to make it a wired headphone. Its Automatic AI Noise Cancelling function constantly analyses environmental ambient sound components and automatically selects the most effective noise cancelling mode. H,ear is a textbook headphone for calling with two microphones, one external and one in the housing.

The headphone can last for 20 hours on Bluetooth and with noise cancellation active, it will last longer if you were to bring the volume down and not use noise cancellation. Compared to its rival, the QuietComfort 35, H.ear has an edge over it in terms of sound quality. The sound quality is also really clear, with tight bass, all these being natural for Bluetooth headphones, but it sure does a good job imitating a wired headphone.

Even though it is not the most comfortable Bluetooth headphone in the market, it makes it up for its excellent sound quality, being so good, that it does sound a bit like a wired headphone. For the price, 468 SGD is quite pricey, however, it is a good trade-off for the sound quality.

iPad Mini 2

I’m sure everyone has heard of the iPad by now, some people may want a tablet but find it too big for them, well the iPad Mini 2 might be for you. With its light and thin design, it would not be much of a burden to carry it around and is also easy to keep.

It uses the iOS 9 which is the most recent and secure version of the operating system. There is a 16GB/32GB/64GB/128GB models where you can choose from.

Don’t let the size of the iPad fool you, it is still able to perform basic tasks like surfing the internet or playing casual games. It is installed it with the A7 Chip which is quite responsive, powerful and power efficient, having a battery life of around 10 hours (may vary from users).

Using 802.11n with MIMO, it is able to provide a faster internet connection making streaming videos more enjoyable as the chance of it buffering is severely reduced. It also supports 4G which is small but makes a big significance as you’re able load things more quickly and stream videos on YouTube or any media sharing platform in high quality.

It comes with a 7.9-Inch Retina Display which are able to capture sharper and detailed photos. The screen is sharp and colourful so that it is enjoyable for viewing.

When you purchase the iPad Mini 2, it comes a Lighting to USB cable and a USB Power Adapter.

Overall, the iPad Mini 2 is good budget iPad if features aren’t a problem. Some who had used certain Apple Phones and Tablets may know that it comes with a TouchID Sensor which the iPad Mini 2 lacks. The iPad Mini is cheaper than most Apple products where it costs from S$398.00 to S$648.00. In conclusion, if you’re looking for a tablet to do basic functions like surfing the web, streaming videos or play casual games, this maybe a perfect tablet for you.

Pokemon GO

The newest game, Pokemon GO has made a huge impact on not just gamers, but others who did not like games at first. To those, whose childhood are with pokemon, then this is the game that you would probable love for the rest of your life. Using the AR ( Augmented Reality) and GPS, the game requires you to move about in the world to catch pokemon. When one appears, it shows up in the real world and you would have to point your phone’s camera towards it and catch it through your phone. There are also PokeStops along the way that allows you to collect things that will help you in your journey to catch more pokemon.

While the game being a global hit, it has some minor server issues. During its publish, it had to stop as its server was overloading after it being released only at 4 countries.

Pokemon Go uses players GPS to play the game and catch Pokemon around their area and access PokeStops. Another game that uses the players GPS to play the game is Ingress which is also by Niantic.

Pokemon Go also has another thing besides PokeStops and Pokemon which are Gyms. It resembles the original gyms from the old Pokemon games. Once a player reaches level 5, he/she can join a team (Valor,Mystic or Instinct). Once a players joins a team he/she can battle gyms for their team and take them over. To battle a gym, one has to simply go within the range of it and tap on it.

You can power-up some of the Pokemon by using Stardust which can be obtained by capturing, evolving and hatching Pokemon from eggs and the type of Pokemon Candy for the certain type of its original evolution (Pidgy Candy for Pidgy, Pideotto, and Pidgeot). By powering up the Pokemon, it will raise its CP which stands for Combat Point. For evolving Pokemon, it requires Pokemon Candy to evolve it which will give you XP (needed to level up)  for each evolution a player did.

If the team currently occupying the gym is not the player’s one the the player can battle it using 6 of its Pokemon. When a player defeats a gym which is not his/her own by lowering its prestige to 0, it becomes neutral (white) then anybody can place his/her Pokemon in it to take it over for their team. There are some people who like to wait for others to take down the gym for them and then “steal” it by placing his/her Pokemon in it. When gym’s prestige is lowered down by 1 level, the lowest CP Pokemon in the gym gets “kicked” out which means that it returns to its trainer and will no longer be in the gym.

If it is a friendly gym (players’s own team) then the player can place his/her own Pokemon in it to help defend the gym. Players also can train the gym to raise its prestige. Players can only place the same amount of Pokemon in the gym as the gym level. Therefore by raising its prestige, a player can level up the gym and place his/her Pokemon in it. If a player were to place a Pokemon in the gym, he/she can claim the Defender Bonus once every 21 hours but the Defender Bonus cannot be claimed if your Pokemon got “kicked” out of the gym. The more amount of Pokemon a player places in the gym, the more amount of Defender Bonus one can claim (1 Pokemon in a gym grants 10 Pokecoins and 500 Stardust). However one cannot place more than 1 Pokemon in the same gym meaning that one has to travel to several friendly gyms and place their Pokemon in it.

There are several items in the game to help you advance (Lure Modules, Incense , More Egg Incubators, and Lucky Eggs).

Lucky Eggs

Lucky Eggs can be used whenever a player wishes to do so. However it is advised to use it only when one wants to evolve a lot of Pokemon at once as it doubles the XP one gets for 30 minutes.

Egg Incubators

Egg Incubators allows a player to incubate a egg as the name suggests. To hatch the egg, players must walk the required distance to hatch it. The further the player has to walk, the better the Pokemon the player gets. Having more Egg Incubators mean that a player can hatch multiple eggs at once, thus being more efficient. However, extra incubators that a player gets can only be used to hatch 3 eggs.

Lure Modules

Lure Modules can be used on PokeStops and benefits everyone around it. It lures Pokemon to its area and lasts for 30 minutes.

Incense

Incense benefits the only player who uses it and can be used anywhere. It lures Pokemon to the player and a Pokemon appears every 200m a player moves or every 5 minutes. It also lasts for 30 minutes. However, some players have altered the time on their device to reset the timer or get more time using the Incense and Lucky Egg as it depends on the time on your device.

With the new update, Niantic added the second generation of Pokemon into the game and a few new features like being able to see which Pokestop is the nearest to a certain Pokemon on your nearby list just by clicking on the Pokemon you want to ‘track’.

Mac Pro

The Mac Pro has powerful hardware, and can output up to three 4K displays simultaneously. However it has a hefty price of around $3000. It is meant for professional use and not very suitable for home use. So it is probably not the best idea to purchase it for home use as it is pretty costly.

This new version’s interior space has about a tenth of the old Mac Pro and it is very significant when put side by side. It can still be used for home-use however it is not recommended as it is costly as I mentioned and it is not the best way to spend your money. The smaller design is aimed to be more efficient and cooling. The noise level of this item is also more quiet than the Mac Mini. It is appealing in design and performs greatly.

Overall, I personally will not purchase this product to use as leisure due to its price and you can probably use the money on another computer without as much features that we do not use. However it can be incredibly good when for professional use as it in most cases work well and faster than most other high-end Windows desktops.

Clash Royale

One of the most recent game that came out is Clash Royale. It is another game from the Clash of Clans creator, Supercell.

Having played the game for a while, in my opinion, it is quite addictive. Despite it being a new game, there are already players in the game who literally maxed out most of the troops.

Some characters in the game are copied from Clash of Clans with some add-ons to the old characters and introducing many new characters. There are different arenas in the game, each with its own type of troop to unlock and get. Just like the leagues in Clash of Clans, Clash Royale also uses trophies to allow you to move on to the next arena. When battling, players will start off with just 4 cards in their hand. Deploying a troop on the battlefield requires elixir which is a in-game currency in Clash of Clans. The elixir is being generated overtime and each player can hold a maximum of 10 elixir per match. At the last minute, the production of elixir will double, that is when things start to get tense, players can deploy better troops faster. Each victory is determined by the number of crowns you get in a certain battle-destroying the towers on the side grants you 1 crown, while destroying the tower at the back destroys all the towers, granting you 3 crowns( if the side towers are not destroyed).

After each battle, if you win, you will receive a chest. The chest contains different amounts of coins which will be used to buy more troops and upgrade them and it also contains different troop cards. However the chest does take time to open. By getting troop cards, you can upgrade you troops once you get a certain amount of the same type of troop card. The troop cards come in 3 different rarities: common, rare, and epic.

Just like Clash of Clans, you can join clans. While in a clan, you can donate and request for a certain type of troop card which you own and even have friendly matches between you clanmates.

There are also replays of the battles between some of the top players, where you can learn some strategy from their battle or from them.

AlphaGo

The Google DeepMind is a developer of the AI (Artificial Intelligence) AlphaGo  in playing games against humans. It first made history this year during January by beating a master of the ancient game of Go. Just in case you have not heard of Go, it is largely played in China, Korea and Japan, the ancient board game requires two players taking alternate turns to place black and white tiles on a grid, jockeying to occupy more of the board than their opponent.
DeepMind was founded by Demis Hassabis, Shane Legg and Mustafa Suleyman in 2010. However, Google announced that it had agreed to takeover DeepMind which was successful. Google then renamed it as Google DeepMind.
The AI, AlphaGo, beat the European Go champion in October 2015 which was the first time an AI defeated a professional player. Today, DeepMind is playing its second match of Go. AlphaGo was programmed to win at board games. AlphaGo’s 19×19 grid offers nearly uncountable variations of moves and branching outcomes, ruling out typical AI brute-force logic.
DeepMind claimed that AlphaGo was not pre-programmed and it learns from experience, using only raw pixels as data input.

Samsung Galaxy View

The Samsung Galaxy View is a multi-touch tablet. It has a dimension of 451.8 mm x 275.8 mm x 11.9 mm and an extremely heavy weight of 2650 g, which is much heavier than an average tablet that has a weight of 498 g. Next, I will move on to the display of this tablet.

Firstly, it has a big physical size of 18.4 inches and a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. This tablet also has a pixel density of 120 ppi. It has a high screen-to-body ratio of 75.70%. There is also a light sensor on this tablet. The camera of this tablet is 2.1 megapixels.

Secondly, it has an octa-core processor hence the tablet can load applications quite quickly. Additionally, it has a system memory of 2048 MB RAM and a built-in storage of 64 GB. The battery capacity of this tablet is 5700 mAh. The advantages of this tablet is that it has a high screen-to-body ratio (75.7 %) and a fast mobile data support (4G). The disadvantages of this tablet is that it has an extremely heavy weight and there is no rear camera.

Lastly, people who are interested in this product must be wondering about its price. Now, I shall list down the prices. The device is now up for shipping and currently offers 32 GB and 128 GB Wi-Fi options for $799 and $949 respectively. While the 128 GB Wi-Fi + Cellular model will cost you $1,079. In my opinion, this is a great tablet if the weight is not too heavy and it should be light enough for people to carry it around without much effort. Comparing the advantages and disadvantages, I would say that this tablet should be given a rating of 7/10.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ is not just a larger version of the original Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. In fact, it is just a small upgrade from its smaller counterpart, it adds a shortcut menu to the edge screen for quickly opening apps, in addition to the existing menu for contacting your favorite people.

Sharing the exact same specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5,  which includes a strong 16-megapixel camera, 4GB of RAM and an octa-core processor of Samsung’s own design (that means it has eight computing chips for completing tasks). Besides its snazzier design, though, the Edge+ lacks the Note 5’s signature stylus. That leaves potential buyers having to choose between the Edge+’s inviting curves or the Note 5’s scribble-friendly practicality.

As of now, the S6 Edge+ comes in gold, silver, black and white, though different regions may carry different colors. Prices vary by retailer and country, but this Edge+ will cost more than the Note 5 overall. The design of the Edge+ are as follows:5.7-inch display; 2,560×1,440 pixels (518 pixels per inch), metal and glass construction, 6.1 by 3 by 0.3 inches (154 by 76 by 6.9mm), weighs 5.4 ounces (153 grams). If the regular Edge’s curved screen and thin edges are familiar to you, you should know how the Edge+ looks like.

Unlike the other Galaxies, this one does not have a removeable battery or microSD card. The curves on the screen, unlike previous curved-screen Galaxies, are not merely ‘cosmetic’ but a function. A special display utilises the curves on the screen.Hence, it hides from view until you pull it out, so most of the time, you don’t see it. When you do want to summon the edge display (which you can now do from any screen, not just the home screen, as was the case with the original S6 Edge), you grab a slim onscreen tab that tastefully lies low on whichever side you put it, and swipe to reveal the full menu. The settings menu also lets you turn on a newsfeed, so you can see various alerts and news headlines in the sidebar as well as through the customary notifications tray up top. The benefit here: the edge screen’s longer window lets you see more text, without expanding the alert the way you would with the notifications shade.

In my opinion, this is basically a Note 5 with a slighty larger Edge cover with extra features. Worth the price of more than the original Edge? If you really need a new phone and or have the money, this probably will suit you. If not, I’d say skip this phone.
