Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge one of the most beautiful phone in 2016. Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has a extremely fast capture speed and now the camera was downgraded from 16 megapixel to 12 megapixel. The camera was downgraded because this can improve the low lighting condition on picture, this will gives the camera a faster auto focus.

The display was a Super AMOLED screen and the resolution is 1440 x 2560, the screen was 5.5 inches compared to Samsung Galaxy S7 which has a screen size of 5.1 inches. The fingerprint scanner on both of the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge was pretty quick and accurate. The front and back panel was made out of Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

The phone was slippery and also a fingerprint magnet. Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is IP68 certified which means it is dust proof and it is water resistant over 1.5 meter for 30 minutes. It is running on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

It has 4 GB of RAM, 32/64 GB of internal storage, you can also insert a MicroSD card up to 200GB . The Always-on display is a display that shows the time, date and etc even if the phone is standby mode. The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has Quick Charge 2.0 which can charge the phone to 60% in 30 min on both wired or wirelessly.

The new Galaxy S7 Edge has a bigger battery which is a huge improvement compared to last year Galaxy S6 Edge. This has a consequences of increasing the phone thickness and the benefit was the camera hump on back of the phone was slimmer. Overall, this is definitely a smartphone worth picking up, it has a very good camera and overall a very well performed phone.

Samsung Gear VR 2015

The Samsung Gear VR is virtual reality headset made by Samsung and it is powered by Oculus. The VR headset works best with Samsung’s Galaxy phone as the display is Super AMOLED which produce the sharpest image and the highest pixels density and together with a wide field of view of 96˚, this will give you the best virtual reality experience.

The new Samsung Gear VR is lighter than the previous model by 19%. It weights 318g without any smartphones in it and now it features a larger touchpad for easy and more accurate control and it is located at the right side of the VR headset. It has foam cushioning which is good because it will still be very comfortable even if you wear it for long period of time.

There are multiple things that you can do with Samsung Gear VR such as watching video in virtual reality which will give you whole new experience compare to watching video without VR, gaming in virtual reality, this will make your gaming experience more intensive as if you are playing a horror game, the jump scare will be right in front of your face. Overall I think this device is not as good as the Oculus Rift, but for its price i think it not too expensive for its build quality and for its comfortability.

LG G5 is a completely new design of LG’s last year flagship phone LG G4. Now the LG G5 has a full-metal design, which makes it looks the smaller version of Google’s Nexus 6P as LG G5 was downsized to 5.3 inch display instead of 5.5 inch. This makes phone very light and very comfortable to hold in the hand as the phone only weights 159g. The LG G5 is now having a straight design and it is no longer curve like the LG G4.

One major changes of the LG G5 was it’s volume rocker as it is no longer at the back of the phone and it is at left side of the frame. It has 2 rear-facing camera, one is regular 16 megapixel camera and the other one is a 135-degree wide angle 8-megapixel camera and also a 8 megapixel front-facing camera. There is a cool feature of the LG G5 which is located at the bottom frame of the phone.

You can put out the bottom frame sort of like a cartridge which reveals the battery and you can change this but swapping out and inserting in a battery grip with physical camera controls and a Hi-Fi audio module. It has a Micro SD-card slot for expandable storage( up to 2TB) and 4GB ram and Snapdragon 820 processor which should be fast enough to play most of the games and multi-tasking without any problem.

The display is a always-on which leaves minimal information there, like the time, date and notifications. The display has a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels (554 ppi pixel density) which makes the display looks very sharp and has vibrant colours. LG G5 has a fingerprint scanner, USB-Type C connector with the support of Quick charge 3.0 should charge the battery seriously fast.

It is rocking the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The LG G5 has 4 different colours, Silver, Titan, Pink and Gold. LG said that they will release this phone on the beginning of April 2016 globally. Overall, I will definitely recommend this phone to someone who loves taking picture, fast performance for gaming and multi-tasking, but I hope that it support wireless Quick Charging to make this phone even more premium.

Pebble Time Round

Pebble Time Round is currently the world’s thinnest smartwatch, it is only 7.5mm thick! It is also the lightest smartwatch in world weighting around 32g. Pebble Time Round has a battery life of around 2 days which is not so bad considering its size, you just have to charge the pebble for around 15 minutes to get 2 days of battery life.

Pebble Time Round can do things like controlling your music, displaying notifications and watchfaces on the colored e-paper display, send text messages, fitness and sleep tracking, events and more.

You can only use the microphone for voice replies which is not that great considering that this is a smartwatch. This is the first Pebble that have round shape and the Pebble Time Round has 2 different watchstrap sizes, 14mm which is the women size and 20mm is the man size.

The only thing I hate about this watch is the bezel. I think the bezel on the watch is too thick I hope that Pebble can make the bezel thinner so that the watch looks even more attractive. And also the colored E-paper display might not be very visible under the sunlight and it might not looks as sharp and clear as others android wears devices. But overall I still think that Pebble is one of the most attractive smartwatch in 2015.

Huawei Nexus 6P

The Huawei Nexus 6P is basically the elder brother of LG Nexus 5X. The difference between Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P is the Nexus 6P is bigger in size(5.7-inch screen) compare to Nexus 5X(5.2-inch screen). For the display, Nexus 6P has a resolution of 2560 x 1440(515ppi) and the Nexus 6P has a AMOLED display.

Nexus 6P has a 12 megapixels and a 8 megapixels front-facing camera. The camera has a Face detection, Autofocus (Laser), Touch to focus and Geo tagging features. The phone features Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, Octa-core, 2GHz, ARM Cortex-A57 and ARM Cortex-A53, 64-bit, a Adreno 430 and 3 GB of RAM.

It has 128GB of built-in storage and a battery capacity of 3450 mAh. It has Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, USB Type-C for fast charging. It also features a fingerprint scanner at the back of the phone, which users usually prefer to use their index finger for the fingerprint.

I think that Huawei Nexus 6P is a great flagship phone for 2015 as it features pure google marshmallow and a strong aluminum body compare to LG Nexus 5x which is made out plastic. It has a good camera, a great display and great performance. Overall I would recommend this phone to friend who loves android and high-end phones.

Moto 360

The Moto 360 was released in 2014, it is one of the most beautiful looking Android wear smartwatch. It has a circular design which makes it looks like a watch but there is a lot downside to this watch. One of the problems is the battery life, the battery can only last up to 24 hours depending on how frequently the user it. But the cool side of it is that it uses wireless charger to charge and it takes around two hours to charge. Another problem is that the display is not a complete circle because of the ambient light sensor. The ambient light sensor is to optimize the screen brightness and allows gesture control such as blanking the screen by covering one of your hand over it. It contains a capacitive touch for the touch screen, a pedometer is for counting the number of steps you take, a optical heart rate monitor and dual microphone. It has 4GB for storage and it uses Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for its watch glass. It uses Bluetooth 4.0 Wi-Fi to connect to an android phone. It comes with a 22mm leather band, a 18mm metal band, a 23mm metal band and a 24mm metal band. The watch case comes in 3 colors, light finish, dark finish, gold champagne finish. The Moto 360 cost $210.59 for the leather band and the normal watch case.

I think it is quite worth it for professional photographers to purchase it because it is very easy to control and has a great camera for aerial photography.

Apple Watch

The Apple Watch is estimated to be release on March 2015. The new Apple Watch has a Retina display on the primary surface. The high pixel density makes texts and number easy to read evening while you are moving. Graphics and images are displayed with remarkable sharpness and contrast, including finely detailed ones like the rotation of a hair-thin second hand on the watch face and it is also energy-efficient, critical for a device you wear throughout the day. For the Sport collection, the glass was protected by strengthened Ion-X glass. Apple Watch senses force, adding a new dimension to the user interface.Force touch uses tiny electrodes to sense different type of taps. The Taptic Engine is a linear actuator that is inside Apple Watch which produces haptic feedback. For the charging is completely different as it is charged from the watch caseback, and  it has MagSafe technology which means it is completely sealed from exposed contacts.

iPhone 6 Plus

The new iPhone 6 Plus is apple’s first 5.5 inch iPhone. The 5.5 inches is a huge leap forward for Apple, moving its iPhone range into the uncharted waters of the phablet market currently dominated by Samsung and other Android devices. Apple is looking to reach a previously untapped audience of smartphone users for those who demand a large screen and with ‘productivity’ . A key market for the iPhone 6 Plus is Asia, where general consensus seems to be bigger and better when it comes to smartphone screens. In terms of specs and design there isn’t a huge amount of difference between the iPhone 6 Plus and the iPhone 6 – apart from the obvious size. The iPhone 6 Plus is the first iPhone to pack a full HD display, plus its bigger body means it held a larger battery. It has both sport A8 64-bit processors, 1GB of RAM, M8 motion coprocessors and 8 Mega Pixel rear facing cameras. The iPhone 6 Plus benefits from its OIS (optical image stabilisation) while the iPhone 6 makes do with EIS (electronic image stabilisation). As for the price, the iPhone 6 Plus does not come cheap but one of the most expensive handset around. Apple has ditched the 32GB variant for both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, with the next storage level coming in at 64GB. The good news is for storage fans is that Apple has finally introduced a 128GB model, which means quieten those whining about the lack of a microSD slot, but it will cost you a small fortune.
