Plantronics Voyager Legend

Plantronics Voyager Legend

Advantage: Smaller and lighter then other typical headsets. Very clear sounds can be heard from the headset and its design is very innovative and ingenious. It is very smooth so people feels good when they wear it.

Disadvantage: Its large boom mic arm is. Its tip do not form a secure audio zip.

Generally: The microphone is not for people who likes to keep up with the trend but is for people who love talking for its clear music quality and its comfortability.

Let’s kick off by talking about its design and its origin. Plantronics has been in the market since the arrival of the Jet Age and popular days of the Apollo space program. This event displays the company’s latest Bluetooth Headset, the $99.99 Voyage headset. It is definitely a famous name but created as a product after the Plantronics Voyager Pro Plus, and the Legend does the unexpected. Improved, it has a better quality, it is smaller, it is easier to wear and its battery life lasts longer. It is still incomparable to minute headsets but if clear sound quality is the main thing you want, then this will be the best headset for you .

This contraption is one of the best headsets created these days. Its well-respected design makes it more bulky than its rivals such as Motorola Elite Silver, Jawbrone Era, or even Plantronic’s own M55. It is beautiful compared to Jedra Supreme. Compared to the Supreme, it has a great feel made from plastic. Although its ear loop is wide , but it provides maneuver in easy touch. The ear loop’s bottom poses a robust power.

I feel that generally this product is very worthwhile the deal and a very good option for buying. It costs only $99.99  so the more you should buy it.

Plantronics BackBeat 500

What you see on top is the Plantronics BackBeat 500. This headphones are one of a kind, something that everyone needs.

Lets talk about why this headphone is a need-to-have. Plantronics BackBeat 500 is a bluetooth headphone, this allows people who easily forget about bringing the cables a solution ! It cost around $75-80 only! Plantronics BackBeat 500 headphone sounds great even for its affordable pricing. Plantronics BackBeat 500 has a long battery life, lasting for 18 hours after you charge it ! By buying this product, you can get a free carrying pouch allowing it to be more portable. There is even a DeepSleep mode which helps your headphone to conserve power when you are not using it.

There are also some disadvantages about this headphone. Since it is dark coloured, the headphone will show some scratches over time, making it look old. It is also not as comfortable as the step-up BackBeat Sense(another product by Plantronics)

To me this headphone is a really good one, it is affordable with lots of advantages about it like : DeepSleep mode and it being bluetooth. Also the product has cushions on it makes it more comfortable when wearing the headphones. The design is also solidly built with mostly thick matte plastic, soft faux-leather which also allows it to look slick despite its cheap price.

From the pictures above , you can see the inner and outer parts of the headphones . These ear cups are just right for your ears and smaller ear cups makes it less bulky, allowing it to be portable. Its cushion and ear cups allows Plantronics BackBeat 500 to be comfortable though its cheap price.

The battery life is the best ! Able to survive for such a long time (18 hours) and even having a DeepSleep mode which would not allow Plantronics BackBeat 500 to lose any significant amount of battery.

This product is the best out of all the affordable products, sounds great, light, portable and even feel great when you wear it.

Portal 2

Overview:

Portal 2 is the long awaited sequel to Portal, made by Valve, the same developer of half-life, Team Fortress 2 and Counter strike.  The puzzle game challenges people to use their mind and navigate through the now decrepit Aperture Science facility with only a portal gun in hand to try to escape. Along the way you may find yourself solving test chambers the evil AI GLaDOS has set up, exploring the buried old Aperture Science facility and meeting new characters like Wheatley, an AI personality core that assists you as you escape.

Mechanics:

Other than the unique portal mechanic added with the first Portal, all new mechanics have been introduced to enhance the puzzle solving experience. Some of the new mechanics include lasers, laser redirecting cubes, bridges of made of light and gels that give surfaces and objects new properties.

Features:

One of the most long awaited feature is the 2 Co-op mode. Named the cooperative testing initiative, you play as 2 robots built by GLaDOS, Atlas and P-body. In the co-op mode, there are all new maps and puzzles to solve, pushing for communication and co-operation between the 2 players. Another new feature is the The Perpetual Testing Initiative, allowing players to make their own puzzles for others to solve.

Story:

[Spoilers]

The game occurs an unspecified amount of time from the original game, but the state of the surroundings show that the time difference is quite sizable. You play as Chell, a portal gun wielding test subject from Aperture science. Woken up by Wheatley, an AI personality core, you try to escape the facility, accidentally reactivating GLaDOS. Eventually you defeat GlaDOS, and Wheatley takes charge of the facility. This drives Wheatley mad with power and knocks you down into the old Aperture facility. While doing so, he also puts GLaDOS into a potato. After exploring the old facility and uncovering the backstory of GLaDOS and the Aperture Science, Chell together with GLaDOS find a way back, put GLaDOS back in charge and send Wheatley to space.

Conclusion:

This is a great game with compelling story and interesting characters and the feeling of finally solving a puzzle on your own is a very rewarding one.

Realm of the Mad God (bullet hell mmo)

Image result for rotmg front page

Rotmg or RotMG is the short form of the game

History:

Wild Shadow & Spry Fox

The game was created in 2010 and was launched in 2011 by Wild Shadow Studios and Spry Fox. During this period, which players refer to as “Wild Shadow Era”, people were satisfied with the game and was very free to play friendly, where the main currency was available to all.

Kabam

Unfortunately, because of this, Wild Shadow was forced to sell the game as they were running out of funds. Kabam saw potential in it and bought it. Most players consider this era  bad overall, although it does has its strengths. Kabam implemented arguably the best and only true endgame content. However, Kabam does  not deserve all the credit as, an ordinary player was the one who gave both the idea and the code. This was mainly the reason why many players stayed through the long time Kabam abandoned the game. Now, to the important cons (too many cons): after Kabam came, they turned this once co-operative(co-op) game into a pay to win and money-grubbing game. If that was not enough, they introduced pets. Pets enabled a single player to be stronger than 6-7 players combined. Pets were what destroyed the co-op aspect of this game. For context, it used to be about survivability, helping other players out and co-op. Now? its about who can get the most and deny the most loot from others. Have I mentioned about the amount of hackers? Adding that would be too long.

Deca Games

The game was at the verge of dying, but then, came Deca Games. Deca Games is an indie company that was formed for RotMG. The main team is made out of former Kabam employees. They started out by making everyone like them by giving away free stuff. They then continued by addressing the hackers (basically almost none now). Finally, they start adding more content and fix kabam’s many mistakes, like the imbalanced economy. However, a lot of content are new cosmetics( how they intend to make money without making RotMG pay to win), but there are also some quality content and quality of life changes that are quite frequent. Events such as Cinco De Mayo event.

Basic mechanics:

Upon starting the game, there should be a outdated tutorial about the very basics. Like controls, shooting and looting. Before I get started, you can change the controls by pressing “o”.

One of the main aspect of the game is permanent-death(perma -death), so prepare to rage, but prepare to come back afterwards.

Start out at the beach( where scorpions are at) and slowly move inland. They will drop some bags where loot like weapons, abilities, armor( how it is spelled in game) and rings can make you stronger.

Bags:

Brown BagPink BagPurple BagEgg BasketCyan BagBlue Bag White BagBoosted Bag

There are a total of 8 types of bags: brown, pink, purple, cyan, blue, white and red. Brown and pink is not soulbound, meaning that they can be seen by other players and they can take whatever is inside. Brown bags are mainly consumables that are such as health potion(not potion of life) and mana potions. Pink bags contains low tiered gears like tiers( tiers 1-6 for weapons and armors, 1-2 for abilities, and 1 for rings( higher tiers are better)). Purple and above are soulbound, meaning that they can only be seen by you and no one else they usually drop tiers 7-9 for weapons and armors, 3-4 for abilities, and 2-4 for rings. Egg baskets contain pet eggs. Cyan bags contain all other better gear. Blue bags contain stat potions. The legendary rng bag is the White bag, they are very rare and drop special items according to the enemy. Red bags drop when you use loot drop or tier potions or lucky clovers. The bags overwrite each other in this order: Red>White>Blue>Cyan>Egg>Purple>Pink>Brown

Stats:

Health(Life)-If it reaches -1 you die

Mana(Mana)- You use this to use your abilities

Attack(Att/Atk)-Damage

Dexterity(Dex)-Rate of fire

Speed(Spd)-Movement speed

Defense(def)-reduces damage taken by the amount you have until 85% reduction of the bullet’s damage

Vitality(Vit)-The rate in which you regenerate Health

Wisdom(Wis)-The rate in which you regenerate Mana

These stats can be increased permanently by leveling up and drinking potions, referred to as pots. There are maximum amount of each stats that are different for every class. They can be increased by gear and temporary boosts such as gumballs and tinctures above the maximum.

Items:

There are a lot of items and they are self explanatory when you mouse over them. If you are unsure about what it does, you can go to                eye-bigrealmeye to check.

Character slots and Vaults:

Char Slot UnlockerVault Chest Unlocker

The amount of character slots is the amount of characters you can have alive at once. Vaults are chests which let you store items which do not disappear when you die. These can only be obtained by paying or when Deca Games decides to give them out. If you are paying, it is best to wait for deals such as Super Ample Packs where you can get more value for money.

Pets:

The most over powered thing in RotMG. They have various abilities and the most significant two are ‘Heal’ and ‘Magic Heal’. The abilities heal and increase your mana(not maximum) respectively, they get more efficient every level. There are 5 rarities: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Legendary and Divine. To make sure  you do not waste your time with your pet, you can go here.Pet Fusing

Tips:

Lag:

Using flash projector is arguably one of best ways to reduce lag, close to Steam. Steam is a lot easier to set up and they offer a free pack, however, Steam is known to crash when playing RotMG, unlike flash projector, which is harder to make work. A step by step tutorial here. Another way to reduce lag is to go to the options and turn off ‘Draw shadows’, ‘Hardware acceleration’ and disabling player projectiles. In options, you can also assign a key to open the stats of the game, such as the memory and frames per second. RotMG is prone to memory leak, which causes a lot of lag, so you can use the stats to know when a memory leak is about to occur.

Progress:

Merching:

If you do this I have lost all respect for you… unless it is a weird game like Growtopia that is literally about merching. Merching in RotMG means buying low and selling high. This is most of the time used by players who have no skill to actually play the game and have no access to their mom’s credit card to pay their way to being “pro”. Basically, go here to see the offers and gauge the price, although most of them are overpriced(because most of them are also merchers).

Paying to win:

There are 2 types, the stupid one is buying gear from the nexus shop, the smarter ones are investing into their pet or Character and Vault slots(Lasts forever) and buy mostly great deals such as the Cinco De Mayo packs and Super Ample Packs.

Fame farming:

People with no life who farm for fame in the godlands( a currency mostly only used to feed pets) 24/7 and think that they are pro.

PPE and NPEs:

PPE stands for Pet Player Experience, you start with no gear except t 0 weapon and ability, you can’t trade or get free items. The goal is to get 8/8(8 out of 8 stats maxed) and good gear. Most of time it is very easy as pets are over powered. NPE stands for New Player Experience, which is the same thing as PPE except no pets are allowed. This is mostly played for fun as it increases the difficulty of the easy game.

Actually playing the game:

The best way to improve is to learn from your mistakes and invest in pets as they can carry you. After having a good pet, preferably at least a rare, you can farm godlands and certain dungeons for pots to max your character and store items in vault in case you die for the next character.

This game has kept me entertained for 5 years now, so I recommend it, although it is not for the faint of heart.

Google Home

Seems like Amazon Echo has a competition.

Since the release of Google Home, it has grown a lot as a not so portable of ‘Siri’. It acts as a personal assistant of some sort. You can tell it to do things just like Siri. It can do a wide variety of things it can do like respond to what you or others say. It is has a voice recognition so it can learn how to respond to individuals which you can add through the app that controls it which can be found on iOS and Android devices. The Google Home can also play music through its speakers using Bluetooth

With the home, you can basically talk to it and get it to do things you normally would with a phone or computer like remind you of events, play the news, set and snooze an alarm and so on. The way that that happens is that it gets information from your Google account so Apple fans are going to have to make a Google account to use it. The Google Home seems to have a personality of some sort as it contains Easter Eggs that Google added such as saying “I am your father” which is a Star Wars reference. In order to have several users on the same Google Home, each user has to be added through the main user and has to install their own Google Home app. The Google Home voice recognition system can be easily fooled if you sound alike to a person that is registered to it so that is why Google have not used it to do things that is very personal such as payments and unlocking things.

Google Home can be activated by a phrase or something that you say a lot to it or by tapping the top of it. To stop audio, alarms, timers, and responses from playing, just tap the top of the Google Home once. To change the volume of the audio playing, just swipe on the Google Home clockwise to increase the volume and anticlockwise to lower it. Long press to activate it and pressing the mute button will deactivate it.

I personally feel that the Google Home is going to come very handy when we are in a rush or are short in time as it can allow us to do things without even taking our phone out from our pockets especially when it is made available at $114.

Corsair Void Surround

Corsair’s products have been ergonomic and eye catching. The Corsair Void Surround is no different. One of the 5 Void headsets on sale, the Void Surround has a few things the other Voids don’t.

To start off, imagine a peripheral device that can be used on pretty much anything that is up to date. That is the Void Surround. It is able to be used on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and even on mobile devices, if they have a 3.5 mm audio jack. The versatility of this headphone is one of its strengths. However it is still able to be used on older platforms, some however might require an adapter.

Another feature is a Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound, by using the USB Dolby Headphone adapter. What does this mean? You can have surround sound while playing your favourite games on console. So if you want to experience The Last of Us or Uncharted with surround sound to have the best experience possible, this is also a good pick.

The microphone and the frame is not to be underestimated. Corsair teamed up with a few designing experts from BMW to make an ultra-iconic and ultra-comfortable design. The ear cups are ear-shaped and fit around your ear instead of rubbing against them. This itself allows a long lasting gaming marathon without fatigue kicking in very quickly. The icing on the cake for comfort is that the ear cups have memory foam microfibre wrapped around it.

The microphone itself has a program called InfoMic. On the tip of the mic, there are two lights, one to notify you about battery life, microphone mute condition and some settings. Unlike most other headphones, the buttons to toggle mute, adjust volume or swapping presets are not on the cords. Instead of making the cords look slightly weird, with that little bulge,  the buttons are on the ear cup to make it more comfortable and efficient to use and there is no need to fumble about to find that bulge.

Sound quality wise, it is still something to look up to. With 50mm neodymium drives and the aforementioned Surround Sound, listening experience are both gaming and music are equally good. Due to its strong drivers, the bass is strong and its pirmary focus. It also has a very wide dynamic range. The mid-range and high-end might not be on par with the bass’ quality, they are regardless still very good and decently clear.

So, if you want a gaming headset that looks nice, have quite a good sound quality and have a microphone that updates you about its status. This is one of the best choices. The surround sound is an ad-on that quite some people will like, giving more immersion to those epic singleplayer games and campaigns. With a price of 115SGD, this headphone is a good deal for its price.

Corsair HARPOON RGB Gaming Mouse

Image result for HARPOON RGB Gaming Mouse

Corsair has been at the top of the market in many different areas and this includes their computer mice. However, Corsair has mostly been releasing mice with a somewhat high price tag of over 55SGD, such as the M65 PRO RGB, Scimitar PRO RGB. If you are a Corsair fan or just a person who wants to upgrade their mouse with a budget of lesser than 50SGD, you might want to consider Corsair’s Harpoon RGB Gaming Mouse.

Priced at around 55SGD, this is a great mice if you are looking for a mid-end mouse. The first thing that you would notice after you have tried it is how incredibly lightweight it is. At 85 grams, it is much lighter compared to many other mice in the current market. This lightweight design would be ideal for those first person shooter players or those who just prefer a lightweight mouse when gaming.

Related image

On the left side of the Harpoon lies two side buttons that are placed in a position where it is easy to press for those with smaller than average hands. The buttons feel very well made and sturdy compared to some other mice which as side buttons that feel very flimsy. The mice also has a textured rubber grip that stretches out on both the left and right side of the mouse for additional comfort and to allow for stronger grip.

The back of the Harpoon has a pretty good curve that allows for a especially comfortable grip that feels very natural. And of course, the Corsair logo which has RGB LED lighting sits on the back.

Now on to the front of the mouse. The left and right buttons both feel very smooth on the surface and feel very responsive. In between the buttons is the scroll wheel that feels quite rigid which may bother some people. Right behind the scroll wheel is where the DPI button as usual, where you can switch between five settings, 500, 1000, 2000, 4000, and 6000. It is also good to note that these number can be changed with a software in multiples of 250. In addition to being able to change up the numbers, you are also allowed to change the LED colour based on which DPI setting you are on. This is very handy as you can just check what DPI you are on right of the bat just by glancing at the mouse.

The bottom of the Harpoon has a Pixart PMW3320 Optical sensor and four PTFE skates which lets the mouse glide smoothly on surfaces.

Overall, the Harpoon is a very well designed mice and with a price tag of around 55SGD, this mice is well worth the price. However, if you have more money to spare for a mouse, I would suggest that you go for some other Corsair gaming mice rather than this one as they are much more unique and superior.

Steelseries Rival 95

Steelseries Rival 95

Looking for a new mouse or just tired of your old one? Do you want a cheap yet reliable mouse for gaming? If you answered yes to any of the questions, you might want to consider the Steelseries Rival 95.

You will most likely find the Steelseries Rival 100 online and in stores instead, however as they both have the same specifications.

Design

The Rival 95 is a wired mouse with a wire length of 1.8m. Worry not if you use a claw grip, palm grip or fingertip grip as the Rival 95 has a right hand grip that is comfortable for most grips.

The barely noticeable thumb rest is a plastic padding which is comfortable for your thumb to rest on. Just above the padding are two side buttons, these two buttons can be used for macros in gaming or for quick-switching between pages on the internet.

There is also CPI quick-switch button just below the scroll wheel that allows you to change between two CPI settings that can be customized by the user up to a maximum of 4000 CPI. In order to utilize the CPI quick-switch button, you need to bind the button in SteelSeries Engine, a free customization tool for this mouse.

Performance

The mouse feels really smooth when used on most surfaces. Due to it being a wired-mouse as opposed to a wireless mouse, it is more responsive and will not have any delay or lag.

Customization

Unlike the Rival 100, the Rival 95 is quite limited on customization and lacks the dynamic LED lighting that the Rival 100 has.

You can change the polling rate which is the interval at which the position of the mouse is reported.  The CPI can be changed up to 4000 CPI.  You can also set mouse acceleration and deceleration. The angle at which the mouse cursor snaps can also be changed, although I would not recommend actually changing this option.

Conclusion

The rival 95 is a pretty decent mouse that can be used for gaming. It is targeted towards less macro intense games like Counter Strike, Overwatch and Call of Duty. as there are only 2 side buttons for macros.

The ergonomics of the mouse makes it really comfortable to use and feels very light and not much of a burden to move, giving a pleasant experience.

The limited customization might be a minor setback to the mouse for those who likes fancy LED lights and dynamic lighting. However, basic customization like CPI quick-switch, key binding, macros are available.

The mouse performs very well as there isn’t any delay or lag. It is also quite precise, making it able to detect the slightest movements, allowing for a smooth experience.

The pricing is also not that expensive at around S$38 at retail price, making it quite affordable.

Therefore in my opinion, if you’re a casual or semi-competitive gamer, this mouse would really suit you.

Logitech Wireless Mouse M510

Image result for Logitech Wireless Mouse M510

If you are sick of using your laptop’s touchpad, the cheap mouse that comes with it or you are just looking for a mouse, then you should consider the Logitech Wireless Mouse M510 in your list.

When you first look at the mouse, it may seem like any other ordinary office mouse. But when you start to use it, you will realize why this is a highly rated product.

The Logitech M510 comes in 3 different colours; black, red and blue. The mouse feels very natural on your palm when you grip it and your thumb and pinky fingers are able to rest on the rubber grip very comfortably.

Image result for Logitech Wireless Mouse M510 colours

Aside from having two side buttons on the left for going back and forward in the browser or to switch between songs, it also has horizontal left and right scrolling, which is very useful for people who may use applications such as Microsoft’s Excel for example.

One very useful thing that this mouse has is Logitech’s “Darkfield” laser sensor, which essentially lets you use it on almost any surface. This would mean that there would not be a need to pack a mouse pad into your bag if you are going to travel with your laptop.

Logitech has said that the M510 is able to run on just 2 AA batteries that provide power for a duration of 2 years. Even better, this mouse is able to run perfectly well with only 1 battery.

Overall, at a price of around 60SGD, this is an relatively affordable mouse  that you might want to consider purchasing. It is comfortable to use, highly portable due to its size and does not require a mouse pad to use and has a very long battery life.

Apple’s iPhone 7

 Image of iPhone 7

The new iPhone 7  has a new and improved front and rear cameras that take higher quality pictures(12-megapixel camera)(Digital zoom up to 5x), especially in low lighting. It has a faster processor and slightly better battery life. It is also waterproof now. However despite the upsides, there is always flaws to phones. The new iPhone does not have a headphone jack and the jet black version of it is easily scratched. If you already own a decent iPhone and want to upgrade it, the iPhone 7 plus may be a better choice.

Even though this iPhone is not really “new”-no new features and seems like a copy of the iPhone 6, it is faster, more waterproof so now if it drops in a cup of water it would still work. The camera is now better in low light, and the battery life increase is slightly noticeable. Take note that the main screen button is now touch screen so it will not physically click then you press it.

If you are not rushing to get a new phone you can wait to September of 2017 when it is Apple’s tenth anniversary and it is rumored that there there is a major design change in the new iPhone then.Who knows maybe this model is purposely made not as impressive as it could have been so that the ten year anniversary phone would stand out much more as it would be much better than this model.

Overall I think that you should not buy this iPhone if you are not going to use the new camera a ton, as i think better feature that matters more. The new processor (A10 processor) may be better than the iPhone 6 but keep in mind that the iPhone 6’s processor (A8 Processor), the  is already pretty impressive. So there really isn’t anything new in this iPhone.
