Rotmg or RotMG is the short form of the game

History:

Wild Shadow & Spry Fox

The game was created in 2010 and was launched in 2011 by Wild Shadow Studios and Spry Fox. During this period, which players refer to as “Wild Shadow Era”, people were satisfied with the game and was very free to play friendly, where the main currency was available to all.

Kabam

Unfortunately, because of this, Wild Shadow was forced to sell the game as they were running out of funds. Kabam saw potential in it and bought it. Most players consider this era  bad overall, although it does has its strengths. Kabam implemented arguably the best and only true endgame content. However, Kabam does  not deserve all the credit as, an ordinary player was the one who gave both the idea and the code. This was mainly the reason why many players stayed through the long time Kabam abandoned the game. Now, to the important cons (too many cons): after Kabam came, they turned this once co-operative(co-op) game into a pay to win and money-grubbing game. If that was not enough, they introduced pets. Pets enabled a single player to be stronger than 6-7 players combined. Pets were what destroyed the co-op aspect of this game. For context, it used to be about survivability, helping other players out and co-op. Now? its about who can get the most and deny the most loot from others. Have I mentioned about the amount of hackers? Adding that would be too long.

Deca Games

The game was at the verge of dying, but then, came Deca Games. Deca Games is an indie company that was formed for RotMG. The main team is made out of former Kabam employees. They started out by making everyone like them by giving away free stuff. They then continued by addressing the hackers (basically almost none now). Finally, they start adding more content and fix kabam’s many mistakes, like the imbalanced economy. However, a lot of content are new cosmetics( how they intend to make money without making RotMG pay to win), but there are also some quality content and quality of life changes that are quite frequent. Events such as Cinco De Mayo event.

Basic mechanics:

Upon starting the game, there should be a outdated tutorial about the very basics. Like controls, shooting and looting. Before I get started, you can change the controls by pressing “o”.

One of the main aspect of the game is permanent-death(perma -death), so prepare to rage, but prepare to come back afterwards.

Start out at the beach( where scorpions are at) and slowly move inland. They will drop some bags where loot like weapons, abilities, armor( how it is spelled in game) and rings can make you stronger.

Bags:

Brown BagPink BagPurple BagEgg BasketCyan BagBlue Bag White BagBoosted Bag

There are a total of 8 types of bags: brown, pink, purple, cyan, blue, white and red. Brown and pink is not soulbound, meaning that they can be seen by other players and they can take whatever is inside. Brown bags are mainly consumables that are such as health potion(not potion of life) and mana potions. Pink bags contains low tiered gears like tiers( tiers 1-6 for weapons and armors, 1-2 for abilities, and 1 for rings( higher tiers are better)). Purple and above are soulbound, meaning that they can only be seen by you and no one else they usually drop tiers 7-9 for weapons and armors, 3-4 for abilities, and 2-4 for rings. Egg baskets contain pet eggs. Cyan bags contain all other better gear. Blue bags contain stat potions. The legendary rng bag is the White bag, they are very rare and drop special items according to the enemy. Red bags drop when you use loot drop or tier potions or lucky clovers. The bags overwrite each other in this order: Red>White>Blue>Cyan>Egg>Purple>Pink>Brown

Stats:

Health(Life)-If it reaches -1 you die

Mana(Mana)- You use this to use your abilities

Attack(Att/Atk)-Damage

Dexterity(Dex)-Rate of fire

Speed(Spd)-Movement speed

Defense(def)-reduces damage taken by the amount you have until 85% reduction of the bullet’s damage

Vitality(Vit)-The rate in which you regenerate Health

Wisdom(Wis)-The rate in which you regenerate Mana

These stats can be increased permanently by leveling up and drinking potions, referred to as pots. There are maximum amount of each stats that are different for every class. They can be increased by gear and temporary boosts such as gumballs and tinctures above the maximum.

Items:

There are a lot of items and they are self explanatory when you mouse over them. If you are unsure about what it does, you can go to                eye-bigrealmeye to check.

Character slots and Vaults:

Char Slot UnlockerVault Chest Unlocker

The amount of character slots is the amount of characters you can have alive at once. Vaults are chests which let you store items which do not disappear when you die. These can only be obtained by paying or when Deca Games decides to give them out. If you are paying, it is best to wait for deals such as Super Ample Packs where you can get more value for money.

Pets:

The most over powered thing in RotMG. They have various abilities and the most significant two are ‘Heal’ and ‘Magic Heal’. The abilities heal and increase your mana(not maximum) respectively, they get more efficient every level. There are 5 rarities: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Legendary and Divine. To make sure  you do not waste your time with your pet, you can go here.Pet Fusing

Tips:

Lag:

Using flash projector is arguably one of best ways to reduce lag, close to Steam. Steam is a lot easier to set up and they offer a free pack, however, Steam is known to crash when playing RotMG, unlike flash projector, which is harder to make work. A step by step tutorial here. Another way to reduce lag is to go to the options and turn off ‘Draw shadows’, ‘Hardware acceleration’ and disabling player projectiles. In options, you can also assign a key to open the stats of the game, such as the memory and frames per second. RotMG is prone to memory leak, which causes a lot of lag, so you can use the stats to know when a memory leak is about to occur.

Progress:

Merching:

If you do this I have lost all respect for you… unless it is a weird game like Growtopia that is literally about merching. Merching in RotMG means buying low and selling high. This is most of the time used by players who have no skill to actually play the game and have no access to their mom’s credit card to pay their way to being “pro”. Basically, go here to see the offers and gauge the price, although most of them are overpriced(because most of them are also merchers).

Paying to win:

There are 2 types, the stupid one is buying gear from the nexus shop, the smarter ones are investing into their pet or Character and Vault slots(Lasts forever) and buy mostly great deals such as the Cinco De Mayo packs and Super Ample Packs.

Fame farming:

People with no life who farm for fame in the godlands( a currency mostly only used to feed pets) 24/7 and think that they are pro.

PPE and NPEs:

PPE stands for Pet Player Experience, you start with no gear except t 0 weapon and ability, you can’t trade or get free items. The goal is to get 8/8(8 out of 8 stats maxed) and good gear. Most of time it is very easy as pets are over powered. NPE stands for New Player Experience, which is the same thing as PPE except no pets are allowed. This is mostly played for fun as it increases the difficulty of the easy game.

Actually playing the game:

The best way to improve is to learn from your mistakes and invest in pets as they can carry you. After having a good pet, preferably at least a rare, you can farm godlands and certain dungeons for pots to max your character and store items in vault in case you die for the next character.

This game has kept me entertained for 5 years now, so I recommend it, although it is not for the faint of heart.

Hearthstone (Updated)

Hearthstone is a free to play online card game that has been around for over 2 years now. It was not very popular in its beta version but has become very popular now. It consists of nine basic classes, the mage, warrior, druid, shaman, hunter, rogue, priest, paladin and warlock. There are also bonus characters like Lady Liadrin and Medivh but they are just skins for the class.

Over the years hearthstone has gone through a lot of different changes updates and patches, this resulted in some cards too powerful or too odd. At first, Blizzard just removed these cards but now there is a game mode called wild that allows those cards to be used.

There are some expansions in this game like The Grand Tournament and Mean Streets of Karazhan.  So how are these different from the classic cards? Well each of the expansion has a theme and is you want a certain card from an expansion, you would have to buy a pack from the expansion.

The main objective of the game is to lower the opponent’s health from 30 to 0. Damage can be dealt using spells or minions. Spells are one use only (most of the time) and minions can deal damage as long as they are alive and do not have abilities are effects that prevent them from damaging.

Some minions, in fact most have special abilities like spell damage, which increases damage of spells. Some abilities are conditional and will only trigger if the condition is met like: if you have a dragon in your hand, deal 3 damage to a character.

Every game you start with 3 or 4 cards depending on who starts first (the person who goes second gets a extra card and a coin which grands an extra mana crystal that turn only.) and you draw a card every turn. There are also abilites of minions and spells that allow you to draw more cards, but be careful not to draw too many, as one can only have up to a maximum of 10 cards in hand. The extra cards that you draw will be burnt( removed in that match) and if your deck of thirty cards has been all used, you will receive fatigue damage.Fatigue starts off at 1 damage but will keep increasing the more you draw.

There are several gamemodes in this game, tavern brawl, arena, standard and practice.

There is a different tavern brawl every week but some brawl will be repeated, and every brawl lasts a few days. The brawl has a unique set of rules and are all fun and challenging.

Arena is where players make a deck out of the cards they choose and 3 losses or 12 wins means that your arena game is over and you will receive rewards depending on how many wins you get.

Standard is where you fight with other players with the cards you collected made into a deck of 30 cards.

Practise is where you can face off against bots for experience or if you have not unlocked a certain class.

Most cards can be obtained through packs but basic cards can only be obtained by leveling up your class, there is also adventure cards that can only be obtained if you beat the adventure. However each adventure has multiple levels which take 700 coins to unlock. In comparison  arena needs 150 gold to enter and a pack costs 100 gold.

Even though this game in my opinion, is very fun and addictive, it does has its flaws. It is very rng(random number generator) based sometimes. You may lose the game because of extreme bad luck or win a game because of it. In fact, a Hearthstone Tournament Champion won largely because of luck.

Overall I would recommend this game to my friends and family, despite its flaws.

Corsair Void Surround

Corsair’s products have been ergonomic and eye catching. The Corsair Void Surround is no different. One of the 5 Void headsets on sale, the Void Surround has a few things the other Voids don’t.

To start off, imagine a peripheral device that can be used on pretty much anything that is up to date. That is the Void Surround. It is able to be used on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and even on mobile devices, if they have a 3.5 mm audio jack. The versatility of this headphone is one of its strengths. However it is still able to be used on older platforms, some however might require an adapter.

Another feature is a Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound, by using the USB Dolby Headphone adapter. What does this mean? You can have surround sound while playing your favourite games on console. So if you want to experience The Last of Us or Uncharted with surround sound to have the best experience possible, this is also a good pick.

The microphone and the frame is not to be underestimated. Corsair teamed up with a few designing experts from BMW to make an ultra-iconic and ultra-comfortable design. The ear cups are ear-shaped and fit around your ear instead of rubbing against them. This itself allows a long lasting gaming marathon without fatigue kicking in very quickly. The icing on the cake for comfort is that the ear cups have memory foam microfibre wrapped around it.

The microphone itself has a program called InfoMic. On the tip of the mic, there are two lights, one to notify you about battery life, microphone mute condition and some settings. Unlike most other headphones, the buttons to toggle mute, adjust volume or swapping presets are not on the cords. Instead of making the cords look slightly weird, with that little bulge,  the buttons are on the ear cup to make it more comfortable and efficient to use and there is no need to fumble about to find that bulge.

Sound quality wise, it is still something to look up to. With 50mm neodymium drives and the aforementioned Surround Sound, listening experience are both gaming and music are equally good. Due to its strong drivers, the bass is strong and its pirmary focus. It also has a very wide dynamic range. The mid-range and high-end might not be on par with the bass’ quality, they are regardless still very good and decently clear.

So, if you want a gaming headset that looks nice, have quite a good sound quality and have a microphone that updates you about its status. This is one of the best choices. The surround sound is an ad-on that quite some people will like, giving more immersion to those epic singleplayer games and campaigns. With a price of 115SGD, this headphone is a good deal for its price.

Pokemon Sun & Moon

Pokemon Sun and Moon is newly released on November 2016 to commemorate the Pokemon franchise’s 20th anniversary.

Following the usual story line of almost all the Pokemon games, you will be a Pokemon trainer training Pokemons with your friends in the Alola region which is based on Hawaii. The objective of this game in the story is to defeat/stop the criminal organization, Team Skull, while battling other Pokemon trainers along the way.

The game introduced 81 new Pokemon species and includes new features such as Alolan forms of previous Pokemons, powerful moves called Z-Moves, powerful creatures known as Ultra Beasts, updated battle and training mechanics, and improved polygonal 3D graphics. The game also has Mega Evolution which evolves Pokemon into a better form. Just like Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire, Pokemon Sun and Moon has almost the same story plot.

Alike the other previous Pokemon games, it contains similar and more features like being able to customize your own character in Pokemon X and Y.

The game takes places in the Alola region which consists of mostly islands. You start off by moving in to the region and you meet Professor Kukui. Unfortunately, Professor Oak is not around (Professor in other Pokemon games) and instead his cousin Samson Oak will be taking his place and Professor Kukui being the leading scientist. You then continue on into the normal situation where you have to save someone from a Pokemon or witness someone getting saved from a Pokemon and from there you continue on with the story.

The game was very well received by people and critics and it even shipped over 10 million units worldwide within a week, becoming one of the fastest selling games in Nintendo’s history.

Pokemon Sun and Moon costs £32 and £35 respectively on Amazon and GAME. I personally feel it is worth it as the game is quite different from the usual game mechanics.

Destiny: Rise of Iron

08gyyj

The final chapter before Destiny 2 comes out, Rise of Iron focuses on bring nostalgia to old players in several ways and  explaining a group of people, known as Iron Lords. Their names plastered on high end weapons in Year 1.

The story summed up begins before the original events of Destiny occurs. The Iron Lords were searching for SIVA, a nanotechonogy that can make anything with direction. They found it, but a Warmind, Rasputin used it to attack the Iron Lords. In the end, only Lord Saladin, the protagonist survives. After the events of the Taken King, SIVA is rediscovered and reactivated by the Fallen, which corrupts a part of the land, now known as the Plaguelands. You will need to defend the old base of the Iron Lords and find the source of SIVA, stopping the production of the mites. In the last mission, you encountered SIVA-fied versions of the Iron Lords and kill them, putting them to peace.

Overall, the atmosphere of the expansion is quite medieval. The SIVA tendrils is a good contrast to the bleak snowy landscape in the Plaguelands. The Splicers, the enemy, is a modified version of the original Fallen which has new abilities that might surprise new or inexperienced players. The soundtrack is beautifully composed with a fan made track for one of the Strike bosses.

As of 2017, all Strikes are playable and remastered, letting new players enjoy and try out the original Strikes with an additional mechanics from old raids and more things to do to kill the boss. This keeps the idea of nostalgia really well. With raid mechanics, some might speculate that the old raids will be remastered.

The raid is one of the best in Destiny, being unforgiving but at the same time not mechanical and fun. The raid contains a secret, which requires the team to find certain monitors and activate them. To finish the puzzle, the team will also require knowledge in binary. The bosses are well designed and the rewards for completing the raid is very rewarding, giving you one of the best weapons in Destiny.

Being the last content update for Destiny, this is a well made and polished expansion for the last chapter of Destiny.

The price of the expansion alone is 30 SGD and the full collection which includes all other expansions costs 50 SGD.

Vainglory

MOBA (muliplayer online battle arena) games are without a doubt, currently dominating PC gaming. with League of Legends and DOTA2 taking the top spots on the most played PC games currently. League of Legends has grown so much that it has 70 million players playing the game a month, clocking over an amazing billion hours of playtime in total by the players.

However, a good MOBA game for mobile hasn’t appeared until late 2014, when Super Evil Megacorp released Vainglory on the Play Store and on the App Store a few months later. It is said by the developers to be a “MOBA perfected for touch” and it certainly lives up to that.

Vainglory is a free to play Multiplayer Online Battle Arena game, where players fight against each other in 2 teams of 3 in an arena, the Halcyon Fold. Players get to pick between 27 different heroes (as of 17 September 2016) and fight against each other , leveling during the match and gaining gold to buy different items to ultimately destroy the enemy’s vain crystal and secure a win.

One thing I love about vainglory is that it is entirely skill based, which means that no matter how much money you spent on the game, it doesn’t give you an advantage in the match. The game has a free hero rotation every week, allowing players to play the heroes for free. You can however spend glory which can be obtained by completing objectives given to you daily and completing matches, to buy heroes which then allow you to play the hero whenever you want. There is also a currency called ‘ice’ in the game that can be bought in the store for real money, allowing you to also purchase heroes too, saving you time from farming up glory just to get that one hero you really want. There are ‘skins’ in the game which are basically a cosmetic item, giving a hero a special look, which can be obtained by ice or ‘weaving’ them with cards you get while playing the game.

Now on to the gameplay. Players can play along with their friends or alone, facing off in 2 teams of 3. You will get to pick one of the heroes, each with different abilities, weakness and strengths. When the game starts, you and your teammates run off to one of the 2 general places on the maps, the lane or the jungle. Unlike League of Legends and Dota2 which have 3 lanes, Vainglory has 1. Players level up their characters and upgrade their 1 of 3 skills that they have and also gather gold from the enemies’ minions or from jungle camps in, well, the jungle. The aim of the game is to destroy the enemies’ vain crystal crystal and to also protect yours. Along the way are turrets placed on the lanes that you are required to destroy.

Just like the game, the developers are also great and seem very devoted in improving the game. They are really putting in a lot of effort in the game, updating and adding in new things and also brand new heroes consistently.

Do I recommend this game? Yes, definitely, even to people who don’t really enjoy MOBA games on the PC like me. Its great to play along with your friends and there is an abundance of features such as guilds, competitive rank, opals that I have not even touched on. The game has so much depth in it, with thousands of different skill combinations that can be executed. Vainglory is truly a remarkable mobile game and you should certainly download it, since its free anyway. Who knows, this might be your next favourite game.

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada is the latest Real Time Strategy Warhammer 40k game. Unlike other RTSes, Battlefleet Gothic takes the game to space, during the time of the 12th Black Crusade. This game, is developed by Tindalos Interactive and published by Focus Home Interactive.

The campaign is unique compared to other games. The story is true to the original story written by Games Workshop and it is real time. As you, an admiral, you control the entire sector which is under siege by aliens, pirates and the forces of Chaos. Instead of conquering, this game is a crisis manager. Whether you should respond to a pirate attack here or deal with an alien incursion there makes a difference in the campaign. If you want to read up about the entire 12th Black Crusade, here is link .

Battlefleet Gothic boasts quite a few multiplayer modes. Escort Convoy, where you will either defend a convoy or attack it. Space Station Assault, where you will defend space stations or attack them. Assassination, where you have to defend your flagship or destroy your opponent’s one. Last but not least, the classic Planetary Assault, where you have to bombard on the planet below three times or prevent the enemy from doing so. In each mode there is one thing that is constant, every move you make matters. In basic, this is Chess made more advanced and harder, every mistake you make will have a repercussion on the game. Under such pressure and the need to make critical decisions makes the already tense game feel more pressurised. The decisions you make is not limited to the battlefield, even customising and choosing the ship to build can play a big part to your strategy.

The game, did stay true to its board game origins. Terrain advantages and disadvantages are a thing, along with the gorgeous background of the void. The planets are detailed and nebulae are vibrant. The ships, no matter from which faction consists of over 60000 polygons. The immense amount of detail and effort put into the aesthetics of the game is massive, and it paid off really well.

Overall, the game has breathtaking graphics but a difficult and steep learning curve which might falter new players to the game or the genre. Most upgrades however, requires a lot of Renown (currency) to unlock. The gem of this is the fact that even in defeat, the felling of pressure and enjoyment is usually present. The game is only available on PC costing $45 on Steam.

Overwatch

Overwatch is the first orginal IP by Blizzard in 17 years. Released on the 24th of May this year, it was really good as it killed all other competitors when it was released for a while. The class-based first person shooter is out on the XBox One, Playstation 4 and PC.

First and foremost, the gameplay is really smooth, it is unbelievably easy to pick up any hero in the game. It is easy to get used to a certain hero but really hard to master him or her with a few exceptions. There are 4 multiplayer modes, Quick Play, a multiplayer match with a bunch of people around your skill level, vs AI, a multiplayer match against AI bots, Competitive, where everyone is playing their best against you and Arcade, where there is a special theme for every week.

Unlike the tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege, Overwatch has all 22 playable characters unlocked at the start. Each character is very unique to their core, in short Bastion and Widowmaker are polar opposites, though they are defenders. Since everyone has unique abilities, certain heroes mixed with others create a deadly duo or trio. For example, Bastion and Reinhardt is a lethal pair. Bastion mows down enemies effectively while Reinhardt soaks up all damage with his Barrier Shield. That said, every hero has a counter too. Bastion with a minigun might shred your team apart, but Genji’s deflect is a good way to kill a Bastion. That said, some matches are an endless game of rock paper scissors as both teams keeps on swapping heroes to counter the other team.

The maps are really distinct from each other. Dorado and Route 66 may be Payload maps, but they play really differently, Route 66 is more ‘sniper-friendly’ with all the high ledges while Dorado has many routes to ambush or flank. Each map is hand-crafted till the point that playing Payload on Hanamura feels odd. Each map is well crafted, with secret ledges and pathways for both sides to utilise to their potential. Blizzard also pays lots of attention to intricate details. On the last point in Hanamura, you can see Hanzo’s arrows and Genji’s shurikens all over the place, Junkrat’s grenade launcher has a flap that bounces around while moving.

That said, Overwatch is strictly multiplayer only with a handful of modes on a few maps. Yes it is fun to watch jaw-dropping Play of the Games and surprise everyone with a comeback, but if you play long enough, it becomes really boring. To earn boxes to customise whichever character you have picked up is really slow too, you earn these Loot Boxes everytime you level up, at higher levels, it becomes an endless grind to look good with your ‘main’.

All in all, Overwatch is a masterpiece when it comes to meeting the requirements of a multiplayer first person shooter, excelling at the balacing the characters. However, the Origins Edition is not worth it if you are on PC and do not play any other games, which costs you around 80SGD.

Pokemon GO

The newest game, Pokemon GO has made a huge impact on not just gamers, but others who did not like games at first. To those, whose childhood are with pokemon, then this is the game that you would probable love for the rest of your life. Using the AR ( Augmented Reality) and GPS, the game requires you to move about in the world to catch pokemon. When one appears, it shows up in the real world and you would have to point your phone’s camera towards it and catch it through your phone. There are also PokeStops along the way that allows you to collect things that will help you in your journey to catch more pokemon.

While the game being a global hit, it has some minor server issues. During its publish, it had to stop as its server was overloading after it being released only at 4 countries.

Pokemon Go uses players GPS to play the game and catch Pokemon around their area and access PokeStops. Another game that uses the players GPS to play the game is Ingress which is also by Niantic.

Pokemon Go also has another thing besides PokeStops and Pokemon which are Gyms. It resembles the original gyms from the old Pokemon games. Once a player reaches level 5, he/she can join a team (Valor,Mystic or Instinct). Once a players joins a team he/she can battle gyms for their team and take them over. To battle a gym, one has to simply go within the range of it and tap on it.

You can power-up some of the Pokemon by using Stardust which can be obtained by capturing, evolving and hatching Pokemon from eggs and the type of Pokemon Candy for the certain type of its original evolution (Pidgy Candy for Pidgy, Pideotto, and Pidgeot). By powering up the Pokemon, it will raise its CP which stands for Combat Point. For evolving Pokemon, it requires Pokemon Candy to evolve it which will give you XP (needed to level up)  for each evolution a player did.

If the team currently occupying the gym is not the player’s one the the player can battle it using 6 of its Pokemon. When a player defeats a gym which is not his/her own by lowering its prestige to 0, it becomes neutral (white) then anybody can place his/her Pokemon in it to take it over for their team. There are some people who like to wait for others to take down the gym for them and then “steal” it by placing his/her Pokemon in it. When gym’s prestige is lowered down by 1 level, the lowest CP Pokemon in the gym gets “kicked” out which means that it returns to its trainer and will no longer be in the gym.

If it is a friendly gym (players’s own team) then the player can place his/her own Pokemon in it to help defend the gym. Players also can train the gym to raise its prestige. Players can only place the same amount of Pokemon in the gym as the gym level. Therefore by raising its prestige, a player can level up the gym and place his/her Pokemon in it. If a player were to place a Pokemon in the gym, he/she can claim the Defender Bonus once every 21 hours but the Defender Bonus cannot be claimed if your Pokemon got “kicked” out of the gym. The more amount of Pokemon a player places in the gym, the more amount of Defender Bonus one can claim (1 Pokemon in a gym grants 10 Pokecoins and 500 Stardust). However one cannot place more than 1 Pokemon in the same gym meaning that one has to travel to several friendly gyms and place their Pokemon in it.

There are several items in the game to help you advance (Lure Modules, Incense , More Egg Incubators, and Lucky Eggs).

Lucky Eggs

Lucky Eggs can be used whenever a player wishes to do so. However it is advised to use it only when one wants to evolve a lot of Pokemon at once as it doubles the XP one gets for 30 minutes.

Egg Incubators

Egg Incubators allows a player to incubate a egg as the name suggests. To hatch the egg, players must walk the required distance to hatch it. The further the player has to walk, the better the Pokemon the player gets. Having more Egg Incubators mean that a player can hatch multiple eggs at once, thus being more efficient. However, extra incubators that a player gets can only be used to hatch 3 eggs.

Lure Modules

Lure Modules can be used on PokeStops and benefits everyone around it. It lures Pokemon to its area and lasts for 30 minutes.

Incense

Incense benefits the only player who uses it and can be used anywhere. It lures Pokemon to the player and a Pokemon appears every 200m a player moves or every 5 minutes. It also lasts for 30 minutes. However, some players have altered the time on their device to reset the timer or get more time using the Incense and Lucky Egg as it depends on the time on your device.

With the new update, Niantic added the second generation of Pokemon into the game and a few new features like being able to see which Pokestop is the nearest to a certain Pokemon on your nearby list just by clicking on the Pokemon you want to ‘track’.

Destiny : The Taken King OST

No matter how critics react to Destiny , the soundtracks are still the golden thing that was quite well received. This is the second official soundtrack for Destiny, but it also contains the soundtracks of all expansions, The Dark Below, The House of Wolves and The Taken King. Since there is about 2 hours of audio to listen, I will select 6 soundtracks that stood out to me as favorites.

Track 2 – Regicide

This soundtrack raised the hype metre for The Taken King when the first trailer of the DLC was made public. The start is very loud to begin, combine it with the brass and percussion, it is the most epic theme in the whole album. The brass is repeated in the second minute but the main melody are from the string instruments. Though after the first minute, the epic feeling of the song subsides, with the string and brass being focused too much with  different keys. Most of the soundtrack is mainly consists of the less epic melodies. However, at the end of the song, the epic feeling is once again put back. To be honest, this soundtrack fits Oryx quite well. The main theme is played in some cut scenes too.

Track 39 – Dark Blade

This is the soundtrack for Alak-Hul, the final boss of the strike The Sunless Cell. Unlike the other soundtracks of this review, this is quite electronic to begin with.  It has an ominous start, which fits the boss fight really well a you cannot see him due to the fact that the arena has no visibility at all and he teleports. The soundtrack is mainly soft to begin with, in game it is not really noticeable, but it gradually increases in volume. By the 3 minute marker, the volume has reached its loudest. The melody is injected with more melodies that form the part when the boss becomes stronger and teleports even more frequently. It ends of with the same ominous tune from the start.

Track 10 – Surge of Light

This is one of the soundtracks that is used in the trailers for The Taken King. It is used for the missions for the new subclasses. It starts off with the the string instruments which forms the main melody of the soundtrack. It does share some melodies with Regicide here and there in a discreet way. With the its own melody and Regicide’s it does send sone form of anticipation to those who watched the trailer or played the subclasses’ qust

Track 28 – Soul of Crota

This is the soundtrack for the second raid boss of Destiny, Crota. Till this day, people still run this raid for the nostalgia or for the challenge of soloing it. The sound track is played throughout the entire raid. It starts off with the brass and some background effects, it makes you feel that you have no hope in beating the raid, helpless and weak. After the start of the soundtrack, the brass becomes more high pitched and louder, it does not feel as helpless as the first minute, the drums also seemed more noticeable after the first minute. The tune with the brass is basically repeated over and over as it is the main melody of the soundtrack. After the second minute, the feeling of being a hero has taken over the original feeling, with the drums being even faster and more noticeable. In the end, this suits the raid a lot. Considering the things you have to do to reach Crota is painstaking hard, this is fitting to the entire raid. Some parts of this soundtrack is also used for other bosses too.

Track 34 – Fallen S.A.B.E.R

This soundtrack is really uplifting, but don’t let it fool you, as the strike that accompanies it is one of the most rage inducing ones. This soundtrack can be heard throughout the entire strike from the start to the very end. Most of the soundtrack is composed of string instruments for example the melody and  there is some resemblance to another community favorite soundtrack The Last Array.

Track 20 – Cabal Breach

The theme for the Cabal in The Taken King, this soundtrack is the succesor of Cabal Stomp, which is an inconic soundtrack within the community itself. Using mostly brasswind instruments to make it have this Roman legion feel to the song. Unlike Cabal Stomp, this is less catchy by a lot.
