Growtopia

Growtopia

Its a multiplayer sandbox platformer with crafting, building, punching and socializing. There are no goals, just an infinite number of worlds where you create whatever you want with all your friends. Farming in Growtopia are the most interesting thing to do! Farm by planting and breaking them after they can be harvested. Examples of farmables are: Fish tanks, Pin balls and of course Chandeliers! Farming is one of the most easiest to profit in world locks(a item where you use it as a currency in game, able to do lots of things!)

Image result for growtopia

Can’t get farmables? There is a simple way of earning them! Enter a world by any name you want to and all you need to do is start punching dirt, cave background and lava. After clearing the whole world, you will get gems and able to buy packs consisting splicing or clothes. You can also save up to buy a world lock and lock a world of your own! Slowly progress through this game with all those and even start getting your own built world! Easy once you got 2 to 3 world locks where you can buy lots of farmables, gain more by farming and getting more world locks

Disadvantages:

People in game might sometimes be rude and swear, but there is a solve! Growtopia has a settings where it blurs out the rude words and makes rude players speak gibberish. Another bad thing is that new players will get laughed and scammed easily, game knowledge is needed to know pricing of items that the new players might get. New players can solve this problem by going to worlds with correct pricing of items and find out how much their items cost. Competitiveness is also another problem, it makes players angry if they could not sell an item .

Advantages:

Growtopia is a game that makes time pass very fast and is a very fun for players who likes excitement and competitiveness. Socializing in game can help you with your own language and Emotional Intelligence(E.Q)

Anyways, i feel that growtopia is a good game to spend your time on. With its wide variety of items and things you can do, you will never be bored!

Critical Ops (FPS game)

I will be talking about Critical Ops, a first person shooter. A game with good graphics and nice gun/skins. Critical Ops is a fast-paced FPS that will test your reflexes and tactical skill. There are 18 weapons excluding the knife.

There are 2 game mode, Defuse and Death match. Defuse is a game mode where there are 2 different team, counter terrorist and terrorist, 2 different bomb sites A and B. A game mode where terrorist will have a bomb to plant while the counter terrorist needs to defend bomb sites and kill each other.$800 will be given to each player at first and the money will increase on whether you win or lose, you will need to use the money to purchase guns.

There is a timer of 1 minute 40 seconds, if time runs out without terrorist planting the bomb, counter terrorist wins. If terrorist plants bomb at a site and after 35-40 seconds counter terrorist does not defuse it, bomb will explode and terrorist will win. If you are near the bomb, you will take a lot of damage and might die. if teams kill each other and if all of the teammates dies, the team who survives win.

Death match is a game mode where you get any game you want and there are still 2 teams of counter terrorist and terrorist but this time you get to go wherever and kill the opponent. You will respawn every time you die. There is a timer of 8 minutes, 1 kill 1 point added to the scoreboard.

The graphics are stunning with a maximum of 60 fps(frames per second) here are some pictures of the maps in-game. Requires Android 4.1, iOS 8.4 or later. Works best with a IPhone 6 or Samsung S6 or up

There is a control setting containing shooting/crouching/jumping/scoping layout settings like changing the x and y sensitivity and where the shoot button will be. There is also missions, complete missions and get around 20-30 credits. You will need 200 credits to buy a case. You can get skins for cases, skins are ranked from tier 1-7 . Tier 1 are commons while tier 5 are the maximum/legendary tier for normal guns, tier 6 are different type of knives without skin while 7 are knives with skins. In-app purchase are:

-240 credits for $2.98

-400 credits for $4.48

-1400 credits for $14.98

-3000 credits for $28.98

-10000 credits for $68.98

Overall i think that Critical Ops is a really good game to try out, it is not pay to win and can relax minds. Killing opponents allows you to relieve stress and have fun. Critical Ops a no-nonsense, action packed first person shooter, playing it can allow you to be amazed.

Portal 2

Related image

Overview:

Portal 2 is the long awaited sequel to Portal, made by Valve, the same developer of half-life, Team Fortress 2 and Counter strike.  The puzzle game challenges people to use their mind and navigate through the now decrepit Aperture Science facility with only a portal gun in hand to try to escape. Along the way you may find yourself solving test chambers the evil AI GLaDOS has set up, exploring the buried old Aperture Science facility and meeting new characters like Wheatley, an AI personality core that assists you as you escape.

Mechanics:

Other than the unique portal mechanic added with the first Portal, all new mechanics have been introduced to enhance the puzzle solving experience. Some of the new mechanics include lasers, laser redirecting cubes, bridges of made of light and gels that give surfaces and objects new properties.

Features:

One of the most long awaited feature is the 2 Co-op mode. Named the cooperative testing initiative, you play as 2 robots built by GLaDOS, Atlas and P-body. In the co-op mode, there are all new maps and puzzles to solve, pushing for communication and co-operation between the 2 players. Another new feature is the The Perpetual Testing Initiative, allowing players to make their own puzzles for others to solve.

Story:

[Spoilers]

The game occurs an unspecified amount of time from the original game, but the state of the surroundings show that the time difference is quite sizable. You play as Chell, a portal gun wielding test subject from Aperture science. Woken up by Wheatley, an AI personality core, you try to escape the facility, accidentally reactivating GLaDOS. Eventually you defeat GlaDOS, and Wheatley takes charge of the facility. This drives Wheatley mad with power and knocks you down into the old Aperture facility. While doing so, he also puts GLaDOS into a potato. After exploring the old facility and uncovering the backstory of GLaDOS and the Aperture Science, Chell together with GLaDOS find a way back, put GLaDOS back in charge and send Wheatley to space.

Conclusion:

This is a great game with compelling story and interesting characters and the feeling of finally solving a puzzle on your own is a very rewarding one.

Corsair Void Surround

Corsair’s products have been ergonomic and eye catching. The Corsair Void Surround is no different. One of the 5 Void headsets on sale, the Void Surround has a few things the other Voids don’t.

To start off, imagine a peripheral device that can be used on pretty much anything that is up to date. That is the Void Surround. It is able to be used on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and even on mobile devices, if they have a 3.5 mm audio jack. The versatility of this headphone is one of its strengths. However it is still able to be used on older platforms, some however might require an adapter.

Another feature is a Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound, by using the USB Dolby Headphone adapter. What does this mean? You can have surround sound while playing your favourite games on console. So if you want to experience The Last of Us or Uncharted with surround sound to have the best experience possible, this is also a good pick.

The microphone and the frame is not to be underestimated. Corsair teamed up with a few designing experts from BMW to make an ultra-iconic and ultra-comfortable design. The ear cups are ear-shaped and fit around your ear instead of rubbing against them. This itself allows a long lasting gaming marathon without fatigue kicking in very quickly. The icing on the cake for comfort is that the ear cups have memory foam microfibre wrapped around it.

The microphone itself has a program called InfoMic. On the tip of the mic, there are two lights, one to notify you about battery life, microphone mute condition and some settings. Unlike most other headphones, the buttons to toggle mute, adjust volume or swapping presets are not on the cords. Instead of making the cords look slightly weird, with that little bulge,  the buttons are on the ear cup to make it more comfortable and efficient to use and there is no need to fumble about to find that bulge.

Sound quality wise, it is still something to look up to. With 50mm neodymium drives and the aforementioned Surround Sound, listening experience are both gaming and music are equally good. Due to its strong drivers, the bass is strong and its pirmary focus. It also has a very wide dynamic range. The mid-range and high-end might not be on par with the bass’ quality, they are regardless still very good and decently clear.

So, if you want a gaming headset that looks nice, have quite a good sound quality and have a microphone that updates you about its status. This is one of the best choices. The surround sound is an ad-on that quite some people will like, giving more immersion to those epic singleplayer games and campaigns. With a price of 115SGD, this headphone is a good deal for its price.

Destiny: Rise of Iron

08gyyj

The final chapter before Destiny 2 comes out, Rise of Iron focuses on bring nostalgia to old players in several ways and  explaining a group of people, known as Iron Lords. Their names plastered on high end weapons in Year 1.

The story summed up begins before the original events of Destiny occurs. The Iron Lords were searching for SIVA, a nanotechonogy that can make anything with direction. They found it, but a Warmind, Rasputin used it to attack the Iron Lords. In the end, only Lord Saladin, the protagonist survives. After the events of the Taken King, SIVA is rediscovered and reactivated by the Fallen, which corrupts a part of the land, now known as the Plaguelands. You will need to defend the old base of the Iron Lords and find the source of SIVA, stopping the production of the mites. In the last mission, you encountered SIVA-fied versions of the Iron Lords and kill them, putting them to peace.

Overall, the atmosphere of the expansion is quite medieval. The SIVA tendrils is a good contrast to the bleak snowy landscape in the Plaguelands. The Splicers, the enemy, is a modified version of the original Fallen which has new abilities that might surprise new or inexperienced players. The soundtrack is beautifully composed with a fan made track for one of the Strike bosses.

As of 2017, all Strikes are playable and remastered, letting new players enjoy and try out the original Strikes with an additional mechanics from old raids and more things to do to kill the boss. This keeps the idea of nostalgia really well. With raid mechanics, some might speculate that the old raids will be remastered.

The raid is one of the best in Destiny, being unforgiving but at the same time not mechanical and fun. The raid contains a secret, which requires the team to find certain monitors and activate them. To finish the puzzle, the team will also require knowledge in binary. The bosses are well designed and the rewards for completing the raid is very rewarding, giving you one of the best weapons in Destiny.

Being the last content update for Destiny, this is a well made and polished expansion for the last chapter of Destiny.

The price of the expansion alone is 30 SGD and the full collection which includes all other expansions costs 50 SGD.

Destiny : The Taken King OST

No matter how critics react to Destiny , the soundtracks are still the golden thing that was quite well received. This is the second official soundtrack for Destiny, but it also contains the soundtracks of all expansions, The Dark Below, The House of Wolves and The Taken King. Since there is about 2 hours of audio to listen, I will select 6 soundtracks that stood out to me as favorites.

Track 2 – Regicide

This soundtrack raised the hype metre for The Taken King when the first trailer of the DLC was made public. The start is very loud to begin, combine it with the brass and percussion, it is the most epic theme in the whole album. The brass is repeated in the second minute but the main melody are from the string instruments. Though after the first minute, the epic feeling of the song subsides, with the string and brass being focused too much with  different keys. Most of the soundtrack is mainly consists of the less epic melodies. However, at the end of the song, the epic feeling is once again put back. To be honest, this soundtrack fits Oryx quite well. The main theme is played in some cut scenes too.

Track 39 – Dark Blade

This is the soundtrack for Alak-Hul, the final boss of the strike The Sunless Cell. Unlike the other soundtracks of this review, this is quite electronic to begin with.  It has an ominous start, which fits the boss fight really well a you cannot see him due to the fact that the arena has no visibility at all and he teleports. The soundtrack is mainly soft to begin with, in game it is not really noticeable, but it gradually increases in volume. By the 3 minute marker, the volume has reached its loudest. The melody is injected with more melodies that form the part when the boss becomes stronger and teleports even more frequently. It ends of with the same ominous tune from the start.

Track 10 – Surge of Light

This is one of the soundtracks that is used in the trailers for The Taken King. It is used for the missions for the new subclasses. It starts off with the the string instruments which forms the main melody of the soundtrack. It does share some melodies with Regicide here and there in a discreet way. With the its own melody and Regicide’s it does send sone form of anticipation to those who watched the trailer or played the subclasses’ qust

Track 28 – Soul of Crota

This is the soundtrack for the second raid boss of Destiny, Crota. Till this day, people still run this raid for the nostalgia or for the challenge of soloing it. The sound track is played throughout the entire raid. It starts off with the brass and some background effects, it makes you feel that you have no hope in beating the raid, helpless and weak. After the start of the soundtrack, the brass becomes more high pitched and louder, it does not feel as helpless as the first minute, the drums also seemed more noticeable after the first minute. The tune with the brass is basically repeated over and over as it is the main melody of the soundtrack. After the second minute, the feeling of being a hero has taken over the original feeling, with the drums being even faster and more noticeable. In the end, this suits the raid a lot. Considering the things you have to do to reach Crota is painstaking hard, this is fitting to the entire raid. Some parts of this soundtrack is also used for other bosses too.

Track 34 – Fallen S.A.B.E.R

This soundtrack is really uplifting, but don’t let it fool you, as the strike that accompanies it is one of the most rage inducing ones. This soundtrack can be heard throughout the entire strike from the start to the very end. Most of the soundtrack is composed of string instruments for example the melody and  there is some resemblance to another community favorite soundtrack The Last Array.

Track 20 – Cabal Breach

The theme for the Cabal in The Taken King, this soundtrack is the succesor of Cabal Stomp, which is an inconic soundtrack within the community itself. Using mostly brasswind instruments to make it have this Roman legion feel to the song. Unlike Cabal Stomp, this is less catchy by a lot.

Pony Island

Pony Island

Before you assume that this is a  game made specifically for girls, I assure you that it is not one of those games. I do not want to give away a lot of spoilers so the information here may not be a lot. By the way, this game is on steam and is released only this year on 4 Jan 2016.

First off, you will be forced to play this game called “Pony Island” inside this game Pony Island.

Gameplay

When playing any “Pony Island” in this game, you will play as a pony and has to jump over the white bars. Overtime the game will get increasingly ridiculously difficult and may even make you rage quit. You will get wings and be able to shoot laser beams later on in this game. While playing, the in-game programmer of the game “Pony Island” will try to talk to you and try to persuade/threaten you to not cheat.

Later on in the game there will be puzzles like the one shown above. It tests your intellect and tries to make you rage quit. Most of the time you get to this screen when you are “hacking” in the game.

Story Line

I will not be talking a lot about this because the main attraction of the game is the plot/story line. As you progress in the game, you will discover many secrets and have many questions and you still will even after the completion of the game. A person named “Hopeless soul” (the one in the picture) will guide you through the entire process and is the one hacking for you. The main goal is to destroy the 3 core files. I will leave one spoiler at the end of this review.

Bosses

For this one, I will not show any pictures as it will be very obvious what the plot is after seeing the pictures.

1st boss name: Azazel

It will give you 4 puzzles for you to solve to destroy the 1st core file and it will try to ruin it for you. After that, once you open the menu for the deletion of the core files, he will use his own cursor to close it and this is testing on your speed.

2nd boss: (name unknown)

It occurs in the game “Pony Island” which you have to dodge the projectiles shot by him and kill him with your laser.

3rd boss : (I will not reveal it yet)

It uses many, many tricks and smart ones also. You don’t need any skills to win it as all you need to do is to LISTEN and FOLLOW its instructions CAREFULLY and I really mean it. To win him all you really need to do is FOLLOW his instructions. By the way he is very difficult to win and you can end up rage quitting.

I will leave the final boss for you to discover on your own.

The secrets are for you to find and this is available in steam and there may be a sequel.

Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)

It was 10 years since the last Battlefront was released. It was a spectacular game. This Battlefront game published by Electronic Arts did has its pros and cons.

It is developed by DICE and they used the Frostbite 3 game engine ( the same engine as Need for Speed [2015] and Battlefield 4). To be honest, the aesthetics alone is unbelievably stunning. The team went to remote locations to film for this game which was a great effort made by them.

The game have Battlefield-sized maps but a Call of Duty feel. Unlike the other Battlefronts this one does not have a Campaign mode where there is a set story or a Galactic Conquest mode where you conquer and crush the rival faction. To be honest, this is just a Call of Duty game that has the size of a Battlefield map under the name of Battlefront.

The aerial battles have the lack of capital ships , which took out the fun of space battles. The modes were generally normal, with a few fun ones such as Hero Hunt. Game play wise, the Rebels have the advantage over the Imperials due to the Rebels being camouflaged.

When it comes to Heroes, the Imperials has the edge over the Rebels. The major issue with the game is its unbelievably shallow amount of content and the lack of depth. I mean this is just like Need for Speed, without Xbox Live or PSN, you will not be able to play. The singleplayer modes feel like they were bolted on for the sake of singleplayer. To be honest, this game feels rushed for the sake of Star Wars fans being hyped about The Force Awakens.

DICE made this game only good in its aesthetics, and that’s all. It immediately has a content drought the moment it was released. It has a price tag of 80SGD which is not worth the price, at all. The game would have been better if DICE did not rush it.

Mount and Blade: Warband

What is the game about?

Mount and Blade: Warband is an action role-playing game developed by TaleWorlds Entertainment and published by Paradox Interactive. In the game you play as an adventurer in the land of Calradia, you’re tired of your old life and want to start a new one by adventuring the cruel lands filled with bandits and raiders.

You can choose to either be a vassal under the king of the 6 factions, a mercenary or start your own kingdom and taking over land.

The 6 factions are the Khergit Khanate, Kingdom of the Nords, Kingdom of Rhodoks, Kingdom of Swadia, Kingdom of Vaegirs and the Sarranid Sultanate.

Choosing your backstory

Gameplay

When you first start up a new game, you are asked to choose how your backstory is like and this would affect your character stats. You have 4 main attributes which are Strength, Agility, Intelligence and Charisma and upgrading these attributes allow you to further upgrade skills.

Skills require certain levels of attributes in order to be upgraded. For example Ironflesh which increase the maximum hit points you have and requires strength to be upgraded to a higher level.

You can also level up your character’s weapon proficiency like archery or one-handed weapons so that you’re more effective in combat.

Character Stat Page

Story

After the character creation, you can to choose which faction’s capital city you want to start out in. Upon choosing, you will be ambushed by a bandit and you have to kill him with either your crossbow or sword. Afterwards, a merchant will approach you and invites you to his house where he gives you a quest to hire men to fight for you in a rebellion the merchant is planning.

Recruiting volunteers is very simple, all you have to do is go to any villages that are not towns and you’re able to hire volunteers to fight for you, as they fight with you longer in battle, they will be able to be promoted to a higher rank troop which is stronger and much more durable in battle.

The kingdoms also specializes in a certain type of troop like the Kingdom of Vaegirs specialises in archers and the Kingdom of the Nords specialises in infantry. Keep this in mind when you want to build an effective and strong army.

Sound

As for the sound of the game, though you will hear the same old screaming of the men or women fighting in battles, you would be probably more focused on combat in the game. The soundtrack is amazing though, the peaceful and calm music when you’re travelling and intense music when in battle, these little things makes a battle or travelling a little more interesting.

Horseback Combat

Combat elements

For combat, there are various weapon types you can use, from one-handed weapons to javelins.

For sword or axe combat, you can swing your sword from 4 directions, left, right, upwards and downwards. This can be used to attack your opponent’s weak spot or to parry them.

For bows and crossbows, it is pretty straight forward, all you have to do is aim and arch your arrow towards your enemy.

Throwing weapons are a little different from bows and crossbows but are still similar.

Lances can be used on horseback and not recommended on foot, you can either do a couch lance attack or a normal attack against the enemy.

World Map

RPG elements

When not in combat, you will be in a world map type of scenario where when not moving the game will be paused, from there you will be able to see all the different towns, villages and from the different factions and who owns them.

You will be able to see yourself and any other vassals of the different factions if they are in your visible range. From there you are also able to manage your party, character and see reports of current events.

If you’re not up for Singleplayer, there’s always Multiplayer where there are different servers running different types of gamemodes. This would be fun for people who enjoy multiplayer games.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Mount and Blade: Warband is a really good RPG-Action game with many things to do. This would ensure countless playtime, without getting repetitive very soon.

The graphics may look old but the gameplay and sound is excellent and nonetheless, it is still a great game and I would greatly recommend this to anyone who loves RPG-Action games.

If you’re the type who doesn’t like blood or hate to see it, there are options to turn it off.

Slime Rancher

Ever want to own a farm of your own with cuddly and cute slimes? You can now in the game slime rancher. The game is developed Monomi Park and is currently in early access. The game takes place 1000 light years away where you’re Beatrix LeBeau, a young rancher who tries to make a living by wrangling slimes.

The game has a very simple concept, all you have to do is collect slimes, feed them with their correct diet and collect their poop or ‘plort’ and sell it for money. The money can then be used to purchase upgrades for your corals that holds your slimes or purchase chicken coops, storage silos and farms which will help in the wrangling of slimes.

The "Vacpack"

You’re given a vacpack which is a device used to vac or suck up slimes, food and plort, though larger slimes and objects may not fit. When you explore the world, you’ll find many different types of slimes from the common pink slime to the rare golden slime which plort sells for a hefty price. You are also able to find different fruits, vegges and chickens too which are used to feed your slimes with. Upgrades for the Vacpack and yourself may also help your life as a rancher as you’re able to get a jetpack which allows you to navigate to higher locations which you are never used to be able to reach.

Tabby and Pink Slime

You should always feed your slimes regularly or they will attack you. The slimes have different attributes and abilities, like the Tabby Slimes are able to jump really high or the phosphor slimes which can fly and can only be found at night and requires to be out of sunlight. From time to time other ranchers will want to trade with you and ask for items in return for other items that may interests you.

Slime evolution is also a thing where you can feed a slime plort of another species of slime and transform them into a slime which is bigger and combination of the 2 species. However don’t feed your slimes more than 1 type of plort or else they will turn into the tarr. The tarr is a monstrous creature which only intention is to eat. It will devour slimes, chickens, rot crops and eat even you. They will continue to replicate until you destroy all of them. To get rid of the tarr, the easiest way is to throw it into the slime sea or into the incinerator which you can purchase, another alternative is splashing water at it.

In conclusion, this is a really great game for people who love cute creatures and hope to raise and collect them. The game is currently available on Steam Early Access for S$20. Thus, if anyone is interested in an open world slime collecting RPG, this might suit you the best, however be warned that this game is early access and if you’re not fond of them, I would advice not purchasing it just yet!
