Google Pixel 2

Introduction to Google Pixel 2

The Google Pixel 2 has a superb camera and elegant design so there is no doubt that Google wants to continue the good times rolling with a pair of premium technology. It is also confirmed that they are going to have a follow-up is coming in a few months, by the company’s hardware chief, Rick Osterloh. They will launch the follow-up a year after the Pixel was introduced.

Even though we do not know much about the Pixel 2, rumours said that it will have a slimmer design and an improved version of the camera in Google Pixel.

The Google Pixel 2 is an improved of the Google Pixel

There are rumours of generations of phones that will likely be better than the last. For example, new camera technology and improved Chipsets compared to last generation of the Pixel, Google Pixel. There are also specific rumours about an improved Pixel 2 speculate that the phone might be water-resistant and the camera might contain more features. They could possibly replace the processor with a better one. It is believed that the company is testing out the processors by the name of  Qualcomm, Intel and possibly the Taiwanese chipster maker MediaTek.

It might contain flexible edges

There are rumours of the company speaking of Pixel 2 coming out with a flexible frame, similar to the HTU U11. It means that the frame might be pressure-sensitive. Which means that if we hold the phone tightly, the phone will automatically launch the camera or turning on the flashlight.

The Pixel 2 might lose their headphone port

Like the Apple Iphone 7s, the company might not consider adding the headphone port on the phone. According to images from the internet, it shows that the phone contains the rear fingerprint reader and glass panel on the back of the phone.

A rough price of the Google Pixel 2…

They had a price of s$965 for the Google Pixel and the Google Pixel 2 would not be any cheaper… Since Google’s brand of products will stay premium. Rumours are hoping for a $50 increase, but no exact price has been confirmed.

Would I recommend you to buy this product ??

I would recommend you to buy this product as it has improved camera, flashlight and processors. Even though it is more expensive compared to the Google Pixel but I think it is worth it to give this product a shot.

Acer Predator XB272

The Acer Predator XB272 sends a fast 240Hz reload rate and offers a great selection of hardware controls. The 27 inch monitor has quite low resolution and the input connectors are not up to date. This is a great choice of a high-rate frame game. However it is not very ideal for the money spent on this typical kind of monitor.

Acer being competitive, increased the length of the monitor from 25 inch to 27 inch. At $680, it is not the cheapest monitor around, but it is one of the monitors that can refresh very fast. The thing that attracts buyers is of its resolution as if you can put a lorry in the pixels. But other than playing games, its resolution is not very high. You can set the resolution higher when playing games.

Turns vertically

Depth of bit: 8

Normal Brightness:400

Pixel Pitch: 0.31mm

Gray Response time: 1 milisec

Black/white respond time: nil

Date of release: April 2017

The display of the monitor is normal, with the controls . The buttons are flat and hard to feel, but it has a joystick that makes it more easy to control the monitor. It serves as up and down keys. It has various options such as options that sets the brightness, reload rate.

Plus the 240Hz reload rate is way better than normal monitors that has reload rate of 144Hz and lousy monitors that has reload rate of 30 Hz.

There are 4 USB ports and 2 installed speakers. But there is only 1 HDMI . So, if you are spending too much money on this , you might consider using this monitor for several years.

There is 1 display port and a Headphone Jack.

So I personally think that the Predator XB272 has a great 240Hz reload rate if you are a gamer and love gaming. Plus you can set the resolution of the computer to make up for the monitor having only 1 HDMI , and of the input connectors.

Geometry Dash

Geometry Dash is a game that requires your hands to be quick and agile. It costs $2.69 for iOS and Android. It ranges in different levels from the easiest to the hardest. It is about a character in a square-like shape that you can change its colour and face as you complete levels.Levels are downloaded and there is a name of the creator to tell you who created the level. The popular levels are always at the top with many comments. Some levels require to switch to different transportation such as spaceships, through portals as shown above in the picture.

People who cannot handle the levels and try a demo of the level through a button named “Practice” before trying the actual level. But the level will not be considered complete through Practice.

Until now there are still a lot of people playing it even it was released long ago. For those who cannot spend money on games, they can try the other two versions of the game such as ‘Geometry Dash World’ and ‘Geometry Dash Meltdown'(shown above in the pictures) for free for a glimpse of the game even on iOS.

The other two versions has almost the same features as the original version of the game , ‘Geometry Dash’ except ‘Geometry Dash Meltdown’ cannot download levels and only has trial levels which are very few. ‘Geometry Dash World’ has almost the same features as ‘Geometry Dash’ except it has lesser levels.

And all the levels in the 3 versions even the trial levels , has its own unique background music to enhance the level and attract music lovers to play.

This game was released by Robtop Games and was produced by Robert Topala. The character reacts by jumping and dropping by tapping and not tapping respectively.

This game contains achievements that are completed through finishing difficult levels , collecting stars etc.

Sometimes , after you complete a level , you can get a secret silver colour key that can unlock a secret vault that contains many attractive treasures as you collect more keys to unlock them.

This game is suitable for people who loves music or gaming , even both.

I think this game is in general very demanding and requires quick reaction.  For people with not that fast reaction, i would recommend them to start from the easiest level. This game is compatible with iOS 8.0 or later, with iPhone, iPad and iPhone touch, requires Android 4.0 and up.

iPad Mini 2

I’m sure everyone has heard of the iPad by now, some people may want a tablet but find it too big for them, well the iPad Mini 2 might be for you. With its light and thin design, it would not be much of a burden to carry it around and is also easy to keep.

It uses the iOS 9 which is the most recent and secure version of the operating system. There is a 16GB/32GB/64GB/128GB models where you can choose from.

Don’t let the size of the iPad fool you, it is still able to perform basic tasks like surfing the internet or playing casual games. It is installed it with the A7 Chip which is quite responsive, powerful and power efficient, having a battery life of around 10 hours (may vary from users).

Using 802.11n with MIMO, it is able to provide a faster internet connection making streaming videos more enjoyable as the chance of it buffering is severely reduced. It also supports 4G which is small but makes a big significance as you’re able load things more quickly and stream videos on YouTube or any media sharing platform in high quality.

It comes with a 7.9-Inch Retina Display which are able to capture sharper and detailed photos. The screen is sharp and colourful so that it is enjoyable for viewing.

Overall, the iPad Mini 2 is good budget iPad if features aren’t a problem. Some who had used certain Apple Phones and Tablets may know that it comes with a TouchID Sensor which the iPad Mini 2 lacks. The iPad Mini is cheaper than most Apple products where it costs from S$398.00 to S$648.00. In conclusion, if you’re looking for a tablet to do basic functions like surfing the web, streaming videos or play casual games, this maybe a perfect tablet for you.

Amazon Tap

The Amazon Tap, is a smaller, more portable and cheaper version of the Amazon Echo smart speaker. Of course it also has complete access to Alexa, Amazon’s virtual assistant. The Amazon Tap is completely different from the Amazon Echo, it is wireless and you can charge it by placing it on the cradle which comes with it and then you can take it to wherever you want to go to. It will stream up to nine hours of audio on a full charge, or last up to three weeks in standby mode. However, The Tap is not always on and you need to press the microphone button instead to wake it up and get access to all the tricks Alexa can do provided you are connected to the internet.

There are several things Alexa can do:

  • Streaming internet radio. (Like from TuneIn and iHeartRadio)
  • Streaming music. (Like from Amazon Prime Music, Pandora, and Spotify.)
  • You are able to do a lot of tricks like commanding Alexa to read audio books from Audible or the Kindle Store, or read the morning headlines. As for the sound, Tap promises to have the same quality as the Echo.

In my opinion, i would definitely buy the Tap as it is cheaper and more portable and around the same quality as the Echo but at the same time better in its own ways too.

In my opinion, this tablet is good and I would give it a rating of 7/10 since it does not have much disadvantages and it has a big screen which can be used to watch movies and shows. This tablet is suitable for casual use and not too suitable for those who would take photos using tablets. And lastly, many people might be wondering the price of this tablet. Now, I shall say the price group of this tablet. The tablet’s price group is within the lower range, 4/10 which is a little lower than the average smartphones.

    Vector Smartwatch

Although Vector is a fairly new company to most people, it promises a great smart watch and goes against Google and Apple by promising a battery life of at least 30 days.

The displays of the Vector Smartwatch is digital but in monochrome. This is done to increase the contrast so that you are able to read what is on the watch even in bright lights.

Of course, the Vector Smartwatch comes with all the functions you would expect from a typical smartwatch. It comes with a step, calorie and distance activity tracking and also sleep tracking. All this are linked to your android, IOS and the Windows Phones, providing incoming notifications, appointments that you have set or even read the news. The Look of the watch face is also customisable from the app you downloaded on your phone too.

The Smartwatch does not come with a touchscreen and it has to be navigated with the buttons located at the side of the watch. This is a little of a hassle as it’s a little hard to navigate with if you’re in a rush.

The watch faces are designed with simplicity and is easy to read. Notifications would come in but they’re not immediately displayed, instead if you would like to read the notification, you can flick the watch within 5 seconds to view it. Third-party app developers are also allowed to install their own software on the watch.

In conclusion, it’s a huge risk for a small company like Vector to go against huge companies like Apple and Google but with the 30-day battery life and the simple and easy-to-use functions the watch has makes it very appealing. Its design also doesn’t affect the watch that much either. With the price of US$349.00, it’s a somewhat a worthy purchase if you are okay with the simple design and function. Thus, this smartwatch has potential and I would recommend this watch if you’re not worried about the price.

    Google Nexus 9

A photo of the Google nexus 9

The Google Nexus 9 is known to be one of the best tablets of 2014. Due to the fact that it came everyone needs. A HD display with incredible performance. It is also the first tablet to run Google’s latest OS, the Android 5.0 Lollipop

Android 5.0 Lollipop offers a “pick up where you left off” function where you can access your songs, photos, applications and even recent searches from one android device to another.

It also comes with longer battery life and it’s easier to manage your power usage as they show an estimate amount of time before it needs to be charged or how much time left before its fully charged.

It also allows you to let your friends or relative use your phone with ease and not have the worry of them messing up anything as it comes with a guest user mode or you’re able to create multiple user accounts to let your friends log in onto your device.

You’re able to interact with your lock screen notifications. An improved quick menu can be accessed by swiping down from the top of the screen and it displays notifications. Swiping down again would expand the menu and shows settings shortcuts like brightness levels.

The Google Nexus 9 comes with up-to-date specs which is one of its greatest features. Specs that it comes with 64-bit version of the Nvidia Tegra K1 system-on-a-chip, 2.3GHz dual-core Denver CPU, 192-core Kepler DX1 GPU, Speedy 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard, Bluetooth 4.1

The performance of the Google Nexus is mind-blowing as it come with fast performance and it has a powerful chip, ready to be thrown with any type of tasks. Even with over 20 apps running, it is able to run large games without any large performance lost.

It also has a solid Wi-Fi connection, for example, browsing through the web is very fast and app downloads are quick.

However, the Google Nexus 9 would occasionally launch apps to a blank and unresponsive screen or would crash consistently. Due to the fact that Android 5.0 lollipop is still quite new and not all apps are still compatible with the new OS.

In conclusion, the Google Nexus 9 is a good and fast performing tablet which are typically for people who does not need to travel a lot and is usually stationed at one area for some time. It has great new functions, however due to the fact that Android 5.0 Lollipop is still quite new and most apps still not compatible with it and has problem loading them or crashes consistently from time to time. It is believed to receive frequent updates, fixing bugs that the came with the phone. However the price of US$339 is still quite cheap for a tablet with great potential. Thus, I would recommend you getting this tablet if the price and current-soon-to-fix bugs don’t affect you.
