Sony MDR-1A

The Sony MDR-1A is the successor of the discontinued MDR-1R, a so-called “premium” version of this product. People liked the previous model as it is known for being extremely comfortable. The MDR-1A is better, thanks to some improvements.

The design of the earcup is different but, it’s still keeping that exquisite design, adding on softer padding and cushions that are slightly angled to fit your head better. The design on the MDR-1A is a bit more textured compared to the MDR-1A.

One of the biggest design changes is the earcups rotation, the way that its facing in the opposite direction. Why would I mention that ? Its because the headphones can rest with their pads down. Which is more convenient when its resting on your neck. Means that it feels more comfortable we are wearing it around our neck and not listening to them.

Without any cables attached to the headphones, the mass of the headphones would be 225 grams which is slightly lighter compared to MDR-1R which is 240 grams, which doesn’t matter as it is still considered lightweight for an over-ear model. There is also another small design change to the cable connector on the headphones. On the MDR-1A, the connector is replaced with a gold ring.

When you get the headphones, the company also provides you two standard 1.2 meter cables, one of them has a button inline remote and microphone. It adapts towards Android and Iphones. But if you are using Android, you can use the SmartKey app to customize the button controls.

The MDR-1A is for audiophiles-those people who wants to hear the sound as accurately as possible, so there’s no jacked-up bass. It’s also one of the most comfortable headphones around, so you can listen to it without weariness. If you coincidentally have the older version of this product, the MDR-1R, you can try to compare both products to see which is better in audio. If you switch back to the MDR-1R, you will tend to find out that the bass is thicker, muddier and less clear.

So, all of these so-called premium headphones, that you like really comes down to your own choices. Like I said before, the clarity of the audio can beat down so many other types of headphones not only that but its very useful headphone that is well-worth considering if you’re looking for headphones “worthy” for you. The price of the headphone is roughly S$250-S$300 range.

Honestly, I would buy this headphone as not many type of headphones are around in the world. Given that it has so much more advantages compared to other products in the world, that would convince so many people to buy this product. Even though it is expensive, I would still recommend to buy this product as it is worth it to me and hopefully, many other people as well.

DJI Spark

The five colours of the DJI Spark:                                                                      Blue,Green,Red,White,Yellow.

The drone that I will be doing today is the DJI Spark. Its advantage is that it is light, has a very good camera, can sense obstacles and dodge it and has gesture controls. It is suitable for taking good pictures. But the gesture mode can only take pictures and it flies for a very short time.

The app is not very efficient , especially on phones with small screens and frustrates the user. In general, it a good camera in a small flying package.

With a affordable price of $468.49, like a efficient camera , you can get many good functions of this portable camera. At first, DJI Mavic Pro($999) with its features like the compact folding design, it went to the top ranking amongst the drones. But after the appearance of the Spark in may, everyone forgot the rest of the drones and only remembered this one.It has many features like the Mavic such as dual-band GPS and a visual positioning system to let it “float” 30 feet above the ground without falling.

For the Spark, there is a bundle for you to get a set of prop guards, extra props, batteries for only $699. You save $154, so why not get this bundle right? It comes in five colours- blue, green, red ,white ,yellow.

How do you operate it?Simple.

Just power on the blades of the Drone, put it in your hands and your face. facing the camera, tap twice of the power button. The camera scans your face.Simple as that.

I personally think this Drone is great for people who love flying objects, love to take pictures and people who likes cool and trending stuff. Basically, it has a great camera quality in a small package but it cannot hover in the air for long.

DJI Phantom 4 Pro

The DJI Phantom 4 Pro is another drone for photographers to use. The DJI Phantom 4 Pro almost seems like it was made for that exact purpose with automated camera functions, robust controls, and a max speed of  72kph (45mph).

Specifications:

  • 1388g (3.06 pounds)
  • 350mm diagonally (13.7 inches)
  • Approx 28 minutes flight time
  • Controller with flight and camera controls (optional touchscreen)
  • 72kph (45mph)
  • Front and rear collision detection

The automated camera functions means that you do not need to control the camera on your own to do the same things over and over again. The 28 minutes flight time would mean that you do not have to constantly land your drone and recharge it and can continuously take a series of photographs. Having a controller with flight and camera controls to control the drone would be like playing a video game on your phone. Collision sensors on the sides would allow you to know when your drone bumps into something. The one on the bottom would allow for safer landings and the infrared sensors would allow it to know where it is in a confined space.

The return-to-home function has a range of 300 meters. The function allows the drone to go back to a specific location that you can set as long as that location is within the range. That is where the infrared sensors come in handy as you can get it to go into confined spaces like your house. The drone, using the infrared sensors, would be able to navigate through the area on its own when returning home.

The chunky controller has not changed from the DJI Phantom 4. Of course the price is more expensive due to the additional Pro features.

Now onto the drone itself. It has a carry case which as the name suggests can carry items in it. The propellers can be easily removed and clipped on for the ease of setup.

Camera Specifications:

  • 4K video at 60fps
  • Max video bitrate 100Mbps
  • 128GB MicroSD
  • 20-megapixel, 1-inch CMOS sensor
  • Mechanical shutter
  • Aperture control f2.8-f11

The specifications are what you would usually find in a camera drone.

2 of the drone functions include ActiveTrack and Tapfly mode. ActiveTrack allows the drone to follow a subject by flying sideways or backwards. Tapfly mode, which works backwards now, allows the drone to fly to a location which you will determine by tapping on the screen and you can rotate the drone or tilt the camera without changing its path. The software can handle the gimbal’s smooth sweeps and tracking better than you can, and that is what’s worth the price for interested photographers.

The drone comes with a beginners mode where it restricts the top seed and steering. Once you are more comfortable with flying it, you can always remove the beginner mode anytime you feel like.

I personally feel that the price is worth it for the wide variety of functions and the complexity of each function. The functions are easy to use and can easily help one out in sticky situations.

The DJI Phantom 4 Pro costs on an average of $1,500USD.

Google Pixel 2

Introduction to Google Pixel 2

The Google Pixel 2 has a superb camera and elegant design so there is no doubt that Google wants to continue the good times rolling with a pair of premium technology. It is also confirmed that they are going to have a follow-up is coming in a few months, by the company’s hardware chief, Rick Osterloh. They will launch the follow-up a year after the Pixel was introduced.

Even though we do not know much about the Pixel 2, rumours said that it will have a slimmer design and an improved version of the camera in Google Pixel.

The Google Pixel 2 is an improved of the Google Pixel

There are rumours of generations of phones that will likely be better than the last. For example, new camera technology and improved Chipsets compared to last generation of the Pixel, Google Pixel. There are also specific rumours about an improved Pixel 2 speculate that the phone might be water-resistant and the camera might contain more features. They could possibly replace the processor with a better one. It is believed that the company is testing out the processors by the name of  Qualcomm, Intel and possibly the Taiwanese chipster maker MediaTek.

It might contain flexible edges

There are rumours of the company speaking of Pixel 2 coming out with a flexible frame, similar to the HTU U11. It means that the frame might be pressure-sensitive. Which means that if we hold the phone tightly, the phone will automatically launch the camera or turning on the flashlight.

The Pixel 2 might lose their headphone port

Like the Apple Iphone 7s, the company might not consider adding the headphone port on the phone. According to images from the internet, it shows that the phone contains the rear fingerprint reader and glass panel on the back of the phone.

A rough price of the Google Pixel 2…

They had a price of s$965 for the Google Pixel and the Google Pixel 2 would not be any cheaper… Since Google’s brand of products will stay premium. Rumours are hoping for a $50 increase, but no exact price has been confirmed.

Would I recommend you to buy this product ??

I would recommend you to buy this product as it has improved camera, flashlight and processors. Even though it is more expensive compared to the Google Pixel but I think it is worth it to give this product a shot.

Token Ring

Ever wanted to have something like a hand print scanner in your home? Maybe even make payments without taking out your wallet? Well then the Token Ring would be the perfect products for you.

The Token Ring is the first product that Token made. Token Ring is simply put, an accessory to access items that usually require you to input a password. Let it be like an account where you can access your computer, car door, and maybe even your house door(if you have a lock made by Token).

The way Token Ring works is rather simple. It’s fingerprint sensor on the underside which will allow the owner to use it’s fingerprint to unlock the items with locks that have Near field communication(NFC). Since not all locks have NFC, Token Ring is considering adding Bluetooth to it as another way to ‘communicate’ with the lock. Taking the Token Ring off will require a swipe before activating it again. A rainbow-colored LED pulse shows it recognizes the fingerprint, but a red flash means it was rejected.

Token is already working with Microsoft to support Windows 10 and together with Visa and Mastercard to make contactless payments.

Token Ring comes with 2 prices- $249 and $299. The one that comes at $249 comes with a brushed stainless steel finish. While the one that costs $299 comes in black rhodium and 14k rose gold finishes.

I personally feel that the Token Ring would be extremely useful to people who have a lot items in their bag or pocket and those who often leave their keys at home or forget to take it after a meal. The Token Ring should be made water-resistant so that it will still work when you spill coffee over it or you forget to bring your umbrella on a rainy day.

Acer Predator XB272

The Acer Predator XB272 sends a fast 240Hz reload rate and offers a great selection of hardware controls. The 27 inch monitor has quite low resolution and the input connectors are not up to date. This is a great choice of a high-rate frame game. However it is not very ideal for the money spent on this typical kind of monitor.

Acer being competitive, increased the length of the monitor from 25 inch to 27 inch. At $680, it is not the cheapest monitor around, but it is one of the monitors that can refresh very fast. The thing that attracts buyers is of its resolution as if you can put a lorry in the pixels. But other than playing games, its resolution is not very high. You can set the resolution higher when playing games.

Specs:

Turns vertically

Depth of bit: 8

Normal Brightness:400

Pixel Pitch: 0.31mm

Gray Response time: 1 milisec

Black/white respond time: nil

Date of release: April 2017

The display of the monitor is normal, with the controls . The buttons are flat and hard to feel, but it has a joystick that makes it more easy to control the monitor. It serves as up and down keys. It has various options such as options that sets the brightness, reload rate.

Plus the 240Hz reload rate is way better than normal monitors that has reload rate of 144Hz and lousy monitors that has reload rate of 30 Hz.

There are 4 USB ports and 2 installed speakers. But there is only 1 HDMI . So, if you are spending too much money on this , you might consider using this monitor for several years.

There is 1 display port and a Headphone Jack.

So I personally think that the Predator XB272 has a great 240Hz reload rate if you are a gamer and love gaming. Plus you can set the resolution of the computer to make up for the monitor having only 1 HDMI , and of the input connectors.

Google Glass

Google Glass photo.JPG

Introduction

Google glass is a piece of futuristic tech worn similar to glasses, developed by X, previously Google X. The glasses work like a mini, wearable computer, with a display similar to a smart phone and hands off a experience.

Features

Google Glass, being a device on its own, has runs own apps, made by third party and also a few already existing google apps such as Gmail, Google+ and Google maps. Some of the third party apps include news apps, social media, photo manipulation, face recognition, exercise and many more. The Google Glass also has a companion app for Android and IOS called my Glass, allowing you to configure the Google Glass using your phone.

Uses

The Google Glass, being a hands-off piece of technology, has many uses. One such use would for Journalism, allowing you to see the story from the journalist point of view. Another would be for healthcare. The glass can store medical information, inform you when you next appointment and can even live steam appointments to patients. Even military uses have been explored, tracking animals and bird in the jungle.

Problems

Such different and unique technology does not come with its downside. You are not allowed to where it into places such as cinemas and casinos as it has the ability to film and record. Some places have even banned Google Glass. The Glass does pose an issue to privacy, being able to use facial recognition on every stranger you meet on the street sounds scary and is something the Glass can do. The Glass can also film events and conversations, which raises more privacy concerns.

               Overall

Due to all the controversy surrounding the initial release, the Google Glass prototype has been discontinued on 15 January 2015, but a new Google Glass, the Google Glass Enterprise Edition may be released soon, but it has not been confirmed.

Plantronics Voyager Legend

Plantronics Voyager Legend

Advantage: Smaller and lighter then other typical headsets. Very clear sounds can be heard from the headset and its design is very innovative and ingenious. It is very smooth so people feels good when they wear it.

Disadvantage: Its large boom mic arm is. Its tip do not form a secure audio zip.

Generally: The microphone is not for people who likes to keep up with the trend but is for people who love talking for its clear music quality and its comfortability.

Let’s kick off by talking about its design and its origin. Plantronics has been in the market since the arrival of the Jet Age and popular days of the Apollo space program. This event displays the company’s latest Bluetooth Headset, the $99.99 Voyage headset. It is definitely a famous name but created as a product after the Plantronics Voyager Pro Plus, and the Legend does the unexpected. Improved, it has a better quality, it is smaller, it is easier to wear and its battery life lasts longer. It is still incomparable to minute headsets but if clear sound quality is the main thing you want, then this will be the best headset for you .

This contraption is one of the best headsets created these days. Its well-respected design makes it more bulky than its rivals such as Motorola Elite Silver, Jawbrone Era, or even Plantronic’s own M55. It is beautiful compared to Jedra Supreme. Compared to the Supreme, it has a great feel made from plastic. Although its ear loop is wide , but it provides maneuver in easy touch. The ear loop’s bottom poses a robust power.

I feel that generally this product is very worthwhile the deal and a very good option for buying. It costs only $99.99  so the more you should buy it.

Plantronics BackBeat 500

What you see on top is the Plantronics BackBeat 500. This headphones are one of a kind, something that everyone needs.

Lets talk about why this headphone is a need-to-have. Plantronics BackBeat 500 is a bluetooth headphone, this allows people who easily forget about bringing the cables a solution ! It cost around $75-80 only! Plantronics BackBeat 500 headphone sounds great even for its affordable pricing. Plantronics BackBeat 500 has a long battery life, lasting for 18 hours after you charge it ! By buying this product, you can get a free carrying pouch allowing it to be more portable. There is even a DeepSleep mode which helps your headphone to conserve power when you are not using it.

There are also some disadvantages about this headphone. Since it is dark coloured, the headphone will show some scratches over time, making it look old. It is also not as comfortable as the step-up BackBeat Sense(another product by Plantronics)

To me this headphone is a really good one, it is affordable with lots of advantages about it like : DeepSleep mode and it being bluetooth. Also the product has cushions on it makes it more comfortable when wearing the headphones. The design is also solidly built with mostly thick matte plastic, soft faux-leather which also allows it to look slick despite its cheap price.

From the pictures above , you can see the inner and outer parts of the headphones . These ear cups are just right for your ears and smaller ear cups makes it less bulky, allowing it to be portable. Its cushion and ear cups allows Plantronics BackBeat 500 to be comfortable though its cheap price.

The battery life is the best ! Able to survive for such a long time (18 hours) and even having a DeepSleep mode which would not allow Plantronics BackBeat 500 to lose any significant amount of battery.

This product is the best out of all the affordable products, sounds great, light, portable and even feel great when you wear it.
