Destiny : The Taken King OST

No matter how critics react to Destiny , the soundtracks are still the golden thing that was quite well received. This is the second official soundtrack for Destiny, but it also contains the soundtracks of all expansions, The Dark Below, The House of Wolves and The Taken King. Since there is about 2 hours of audio to listen, I will select 6 soundtracks that stood out to me as favorites.

Track 2 – Regicide

This soundtrack raised the hype metre for The Taken King when the first trailer of the DLC was made public. The start is very loud to begin, combine it with the brass and percussion, it is the most epic theme in the whole album. The brass is repeated in the second minute but the main melody are from the string instruments. Though after the first minute, the epic feeling of the song subsides, with the string and brass being focused too much with  different keys. Most of the soundtrack is mainly consists of the less epic melodies. However, at the end of the song, the epic feeling is once again put back. To be honest, this soundtrack fits Oryx quite well. The main theme is played in some cut scenes too.

Track 39 – Dark Blade

This is the soundtrack for Alak-Hul, the final boss of the strike The Sunless Cell. Unlike the other soundtracks of this review, this is quite electronic to begin with.  It has an ominous start, which fits the boss fight really well a you cannot see him due to the fact that the arena has no visibility at all and he teleports. The soundtrack is mainly soft to begin with, in game it is not really noticeable, but it gradually increases in volume. By the 3 minute marker, the volume has reached its loudest. The melody is injected with more melodies that form the part when the boss becomes stronger and teleports even more frequently. It ends of with the same ominous tune from the start.

Track 10 – Surge of Light

This is one of the soundtracks that is used in the trailers for The Taken King. It is used for the missions for the new subclasses. It starts off with the the string instruments which forms the main melody of the soundtrack. It does share some melodies with Regicide here and there in a discreet way. With the its own melody and Regicide’s it does send sone form of anticipation to those who watched the trailer or played the subclasses’ qust

Track 28 – Soul of Crota

This is the soundtrack for the second raid boss of Destiny, Crota. Till this day, people still run this raid for the nostalgia or for the challenge of soloing it. The sound track is played throughout the entire raid. It starts off with the brass and some background effects, it makes you feel that you have no hope in beating the raid, helpless and weak. After the start of the soundtrack, the brass becomes more high pitched and louder, it does not feel as helpless as the first minute, the drums also seemed more noticeable after the first minute. The tune with the brass is basically repeated over and over as it is the main melody of the soundtrack. After the second minute, the feeling of being a hero has taken over the original feeling, with the drums being even faster and more noticeable. In the end, this suits the raid a lot. Considering the things you have to do to reach Crota is painstaking hard, this is fitting to the entire raid. Some parts of this soundtrack is also used for other bosses too.

Track 34 – Fallen S.A.B.E.R

This soundtrack is really uplifting, but don’t let it fool you, as the strike that accompanies it is one of the most rage inducing ones. This soundtrack can be heard throughout the entire strike from the start to the very end. Most of the soundtrack is composed of string instruments for example the melody and  there is some resemblance to another community favorite soundtrack The Last Array.

Track 20 – Cabal Breach

The theme for the Cabal in The Taken King, this soundtrack is the succesor of Cabal Stomp, which is an inconic soundtrack within the community itself. Using mostly brasswind instruments to make it have this Roman legion feel to the song. Unlike Cabal Stomp, this is less catchy by a lot.

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles Trilogy

Though 2016 does not have an Assassin’s Creed game, this game is a spinoff of its main series set in 3 different time periods and 3 different locations with 3 different assassins. Though it is not part of the main series, this 2.5 D platformer has many unique details to a certain location.

First of all, will be the first game in this trilogy, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles : China. In basic, this game happens after Ezio’s death, which is depicted in this video. The game starts off where the protagonist, Shao Jun allowed her to be captured to get close to her target. She then proceeds to kill of each and every Chinese Templar to get back her Precusor Box.  In the end, the Box was on its way to India, the next part of the trilogy.

By watching the gameplay, I honestly think this is one of the harder games of the series, considering it has more button combos to remember and the type of levels to play. Though I would give credit where credit is due as the detail in this game is astronomical. Though Shao Jun did not speak in full Mandarin, the guards and NPCs do. Even with that, the background, blood effects and actions are all depicted in brush strokes, which fits the location of the game. To be honest, I did like China, but it is not my favorite in this trilogy.

Next game in the trilogy will be Assassin’s Creed Chronicles : India. This game took place 4 years before the outbreak of the First Anglo-Sikh War. The game starts off where the protagonist, Arbaaz Mir , sneaks into a palace to meet with his lover and to check out on the Koh-i-Noor diamond from his mentor. Most of  the game Mir spends his time finding the Box in quite diverse environments.

Personally, this is harder than China due to the fact that there are more puzzles to solve and the speed missions are harder. With the same issues as China, the new controls are quite complicated if you are new to the trilogy. Again like China, the effects of everything are depicted in traditional Indian art which is way more vibrant than China which I think is ok. Honestly , I like this one due to the puzzles within the game and the vibrancy.

Lastly, we have Assassin’s Creed Chronicles : Russia. The last installment of the series follows Nikolaï Orelov , an Assassin who wanted to cut his ties with the Russian Assassins, but he has to do one last assignment for them. He has to steal the Box from the Bolsheviks holding the Tsar’s family and witnessed the murder of all of them but Anastasia. Afterwards, both of them had to escape the Bolsheviks and back to Assassin controlled cities.

Along the way, the challenges and puzzles this time are really hard. Considering the fact that this game has a slightly slower pace, this does not make the game itself any easier. The aesthetics of the game are from the revolutionary posters around that time period, with the red stripes, pictures of factories and main colours of the Red October.

Personally, I like Assassin’s Creed Chornicles : Russia the most out of the three. Mainly due to it’s unique artstyle and the time period it is set in. Unlike the previous two games, Russia has its artwork based around history and not culture.

Overall, the trilogy costs $25, which is reasonable price for a trilogy spinoff. So, if you need to have an Assassin’s Creed game for 2016, you have a trilogy instead to play.

Samsung Galaxy S7

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is Samsung’s latest phone that was released on 11 March. It is a a significant upgrade of the S6 in many ways, mainly the battery life and water resistance. Other than that, this is just a way better Galaxy than its older counterparts.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 has a comfortable curved back and sides which is quite resistant, falling a few feet wont crack or dent it, just don’t expect it to be the next Nokia. It is also water resistant and can survive 5 feet underwater, without any protective case. These feature already made a durable smartphone more durable. Aesthetics wise, the curves and build is better than previous Galaxies, the S7 is no doubt built better than its older counterparts. The drawback is that the glass and metal backing is a smudge magnet. There will always be fingerprints on the phone, making it annoying to clean all the time and sort of forcing you to buy a case to prevent this problem.

Phones nowadays are used for taking beautiful shots while on holidays or just selfies. This phone has a really good rear camera, with 12 megapixels  with dual pixel
CMOS 5MP front camera. The rear camera is a  low-light camera, whatever photos taken will come out crisp. Though the low light photos have better quality now, digital noise was still there, those small speckles of color that infiltrate the picture are an inevitability in low-light digital camera shots. The auto-focus is really fast and good , grabbing clear shots from moving objects. This is good news to those taking normal landscape photos, but the selfies camera, armed with 5 megapixels, was not really good. It has even more ‘beautification’ filters, making the skin look youthful, but it does it too much. It makes the skin look plastic. The selfies comes out either too fake or too harsh. The flash used for the front camera is quite good, considering it whites out the screen, so your next selfie in a dark location will not be really muffled, but the flash in unbelievably blinding.

The S7 has lesser bloatware, unlike the S6, which leaves the S& with tons of customisation for you to do. Samsung also added a Game Launcher which has a set off quick action tools for you to use, like screenshots and recording. It can be use to turn off all alerts except for calls. The call notification takes up a big bulk of space, which would be better if it were to be toned down. It has an always on feature that shows either the clock, calendar or an image. It is useful a you need not to wake your phone up to check the time, battery levels or date.

The battery life is astronomically long lasting, even better than the iphone 6S. I mean if 16 hours of heavy use(still dependent on what the use is) is not enough for you, there is the S7 Edge anyways.  The amount of storage has been increased too, with a microSD card slot to use, that is an extra 64GB or more extra storage.

Here are some specifications that you might need to know. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, has 4GB or RAM and capture videos in 4K

Though it is pricey, I think it is worth buying it if you have no phone or have the money to buy this high-end phone. It costs 905SGD to buy the S7.

Best of Monstercat 2015

Best of Monstercat 2015 has finally been released. After the long voting process, the best of the best have been picked and mixed. (This review will only cover the songs and not the album mix as different platforms receives different mixes. E.G: Spotify mix and Youtube mix are different)

Aero Chord – 4U (Featuring Klaypex)

This song is released as Aero Chord got 100k followers on Soundcloud. It is not the most flashiest song or complex, but it is sure a very catchy song of 2015. With Klaypex’s vocals, it is no doubt a good song to release as a celebration and to jam to.

Slips & Slurs – Divided

This is Slips & Slurs first song released on Monstercat. Rather than being very fast, it is significantly slower than most other trap songs on Monstercat. It does not have the loudest drop in the album, it is still a really good song nonetheless.

Grabbitz – Float Away

This song is quite repetitive lyrics wise, but the lyrics is rather depressing. It shows that a guy rather commit suicide than to live without his girlfriend.

Grant Bowtie – High Tide

During the Future Bass 24/7 period of Monstercat, this is the crown jewel of them. Being really calm the whole song and the usual chirp of Future Bass. Though I am not a Future Bass fan, this is good.

Varien and Mr FijiWiji – We Are The Lights (Featuring Anna Yvette)

It is a very chilled song to begin with. With very distinct sounds, it is possible to tell who made which part of the song. With Anna Yvette’s vocals as an add-on, it is a beautiful chilled song.

Pegboard Nerds – Emoji

The song Pegboard Nerds hyped for for months payed off. This song is the main song of their Pink Cloud EP. The drops have the happy and angry drops, which both are very fitting. The vocals are great. The lyrics can be dark, as the singer is singing to someone who has breast cancer (which is what the EP is funding for), allowing her to show her emotions. Still a good song though.

Hyper Potions & Subtact – Adventures

A really short song made by the two main Future Bass artists during the Future Bass 24/7 period. Though short, it is very cheerful and chirpy, makes one feel optimistic about one’s life.

Excision & Pegboard Nerds – Bring The Madness(featuring Mayor Apeshit)

The first Drumstep song of 2015, has a legendary buildup and vocals. The vocals have quite a deep meaning about the government spying on us making us barbaric due to money. The drop was really not the best the trio can do. It is really a wasted opportunity but still, the vocals and beats are really golden.

Rogue – Rattlesnake

The joke of the year is a really good trap track. With the community classifying this as ‘kitchenstep’ due to the drop, it still is quite a nice song to listen. Rather than a loud drop, this balances the synths and bass really well.

Noisestorm – Heist

This song uses double harmonic scale, which makes it have an Arabic-like sound. The drop was really catchy but it is not the best trap song in the mix.

Snavs – Time

This is Snavs’ first solo song on Monstercat. He is really smart as he made the song using slightly rarer sound design and using the tick-tock for the snare pattern. In my opinion, Snavs made this song really catchy.

San Holo – Victory

This song is pretty repetitive but ultimately very catchy. Still I’m not sure if Monstercat purposefully released this song on May 4th, also known as Star Wars Day due to the artist’s name. Anyways it sounds quite catchy and chirpy like all other Future Bass songs.

Razihel & Aero Chord – Titans

The two legends of Monstercat collaborated and made this beast. Though catchy and sounding slightly repetitive and familiar to some of the artists’ recent songs, this is still a nice song.

Razihel – Legends(featuring TeamMate)

This is one of the best songs of the year, mainly due to its synths and vocals. The lyrics are pretty inspiring with a streamlined synths to compliment it. The drop was not very crazy  but it was long, very long. Anyways, it is a strong contender for being the best song of 2015.

Haywyre – Insight

This is Haywyre’s first song of 2015 where he recorded the performance live. It is his usual glitch hop sounds with some calm piano sounds.  This however does not take away the beauty from the song made by Hawwyre.

Deon Custom – Roses

This is Deon Custom’s debut on Monstercat. It has the future bass chirp but rather than a uniform calmness , it fluctuates so much during the drop, it makes it sound very unique.

Draper – Pressure (Featuring Laura Brehm)

Draper and Laura made a beautiful track together. It is really calm throughout the song, even during the drop.Laura’s vocals are on spot in this piece of masterpiece, there is no doubt Draper’s vocals during the drop was makes the drop so much more memorable.

Rameses B – Mountains (Featuring Veela)

The king of  Drum and Bass (DnB) has made another song that nails DnB really well.It is not your usual DnB that has a fast beat. This song like his previous song Dream Catcher, are both liquid DnB that feature a female vocalist. Veela did an outstanding work for this song.

Botnek & I See MONSTAS – Deeper Love

This is a DnB song but it is totally opposite of Mountains. It starts off with a quick beat and the catchy synth.Whoever sang in this song did a stellar job in this song. The drop was distorted probably to make it sound catchy, and it does.

Stonebank – Stronger (Featuring EMEL)

The first song of 2015 is no doubt one of the best songs in the year. It does no have so much bass to make the fans like the song as the synths basically hypnotise you mainly due to its ‘catchiness’ and how fast it is. Though the second drop was not really good, it was followed up by the last drop which was a good way to end off this song. EMEL’s vocals did really improve since her last song.

Feint – We Won’t Be Alone (Featuring Laura Brehm)

Feint has made a beautiful song with Laura Brehm. Her vocals just makes the song so much better. the song is generally calm even during the drop(though the drop is slightly intense as it is the drop). Overall, this song is mesmerising and it is my favorite song of 2015.

WRLD – Little Too Close (Featuring Veronika Redd)

WRLD made his debut on Monstercat with Future Bass, but it was a surprise that this song was an Indie Dance song. It starts off with a really catchy synth and Veronika’s vocals, though the start sounds sounds similar to Hello. Though her vocals were soft, they were good too. Overall, this song is quite like Stronger, having a good synth that it is the best part of the song.

Protostar & Draper – Chrysalis

It starts off quite similar to Pressure as it starts off calmly. It has a repetitive synth that makes this song really catchy. The drop is a Glitch Hop drop, not a Moombahcore drop. This is a really unique song of 2015.

Volant – Minty

This was the debut of Volant. This song is song unique and it got quite a lot of views quickly. It was a really catchy song during the early months of 2015.

Karma Fields – Build The Cities (Featuring Kerli)

The song Monstercat hyped for since late 2014, was released. The song was generally good but Kerli’s vocals was not really fitting. The drop and the animation was the thing that made this song good.

Stephen Walking – Dads In Space

This song has quite a catchy drop. Most of the song was great but after the drop, it was extraordinary.

Tut Tut Child – I Can’t

This song is probably a surprise as Tut Tut Child pretty much never does House, but hey this song is really catchy, especially its drop. Though both drops were repetitive, the second one sounds quite similar and catchy nonetheless.

Jauz & Pegboard Nerds – Get On Up

Jauz’s debut on Monstercat is quite golden. Whoever did the vocals did quite a good job. Though it does not sound quite like Pegboard Nerd’s style, it is still a nice song as the drop was amazing.

Nitro Fun – Final Boss

Nitro Fun totally nailed this song. The synths were really catchy with the usual Nitro Fun retro arcade sounds implemented into it. The drop is pretty much the most intense drop Nitro Fun had done which sits very well the song’s title. To be honest this song deserved its own rightful place in the Best of 2015 mix.

PIXL – This Time

PIXL released another song with his iconic kick and snare pattern. It sounds similar to other songs he released like The Escape and Buzz Kill, this is like a mixture of both. The drop was not heavy but the synths made this song really wonderful, which is kind of surprising as PIXL’s drops always make the song what it is, this time is probably an exception.

F.O.O.L – Need You

F.O.O.L’s style is hard to pin point but this is does not have much similarity with other Electro tracks he released. The only thing that I can describe about this song is that the drop sounds like it has some Chinese Drama sounds inspirations. Other than this, F.O.O.L made an okay song for 2015.

Tristam – Crave

This song’s meaning only works wells with the music video. The song has really good synths which is a trait that makes Tristam songs unique. Now, about the music video, it is very confusing if you do not get the lyrics right, so yeah. Firstly there are 5 people who are depicted in the video, a bride( that is what I assume) who had something wrong, and old man who took drugs and shot himself in the head, a ballet dancer who did not succeed in her goals ,took heroin or cocaine and silt her throat, a rugby player who killed himself due to his father being abusive to him by shooting himself and an African American who harmed someone with his hands and killed himself(this is really dark). The ‘tar’ represents the addiction and where is started shows how the person died. The bride was not depicted with the tar engulfing her but for everyone else, it did. In the end, this music video was to promote a help hotline for anti-suicidal thoughts and help. This is the only music video or song on Monstercat that has such a dark meaning behind it.

Hellberg – The Girl (Featuring Cozi Zuehlsdorff)

This song was made whilst Hellberg was recovering from an operation. Unlike all of the other songs he made this one is more of what he actually felt at the point of time. Yes the vocals were done by Cozi, yes she was featured on Disney XD and Dolphin Tale. Her vocals were beautiful and the drops were on point for being catchy. No doubt this is one of the community’s favorite song of 2015.

AU5 – Inside (Featuring Danyka Nadeau)

AU5 made a song that could be compared to Snowblind which was a near perfect song. Of course adding Danyka’s vocals will make the community go wild but AU5 used this to his advantage. The synths were incredible and so were the vocals. It is a more or less a song made out of pure gold.

Rezonate – Rebirth (Featuring Ashley Apollodor)

If you have been listening to Rezonate’s songs chronologically, you will find out that it is kind of like a story. this being after Shake It Off where someone was left to waste after cheating his wife. Hence the song name. It has a carnival-like theme and beautiful vocals from both Rezonate and Ashley. One of my personal favorites without a doubt.

LVTHER – Dots (Featuring Jenny Broke The Window)

This is a really cheerful song to begin. The vocals were auto-tuned but for this, it made it sound nicer. The lyrics to be honest are like the description of a student falling in love with someone around his or her age. Though a good song, I would suggest not playing this at events where vulgar songs are prohibited as there are mispronunciations or misheard lyrics.

Summer Was Fun – Watching (Featuring Colordrive)

DotEXE had rougher songs before he dropped his old alias for a new one. To be honest, this is one of those songs with catchy synths, lyrics and vocals. Summer Was Fun did a nice good making the song sound cheerful and Colordrive’s catchy vocals.

Laszlo – Home ( Featuring Richard Caddock)

It starts off with the familiar Laszlo chirpy synths and the vocals were quite good to start off with. The synths are the reason why this song is really loved by the community. Richard did an amazing job for this song.

Puppet & The Eden Project – The Fire

The song start off slow and soft, Puppet style.  The vocals were really done, so were the synths. The song is really too long for my liking but it is really good. Just like Dots, misinterpreting this is not really good in a crowded place.

Tristam & Braken – Far Away

Of course, this mix started of with a legend, why not end it with two legends? If Tristam is in it, expect high quality synths and catchy vocals by Tristam and Braken. This no doubt one of the best songs of 2015 because of Tristam but to be honest, it is a really good way to end of the mix.

Star Wars: Battlefront (2015)

It was 10 years since the last Battlefront was released. It was a spectacular game. This Battlefront game published by Electronic Arts did has its pros and cons.

It is developed by DICE and they used the Frostbite 3 game engine ( the same engine as Need for Speed [2015] and Battlefield 4). To be honest, the aesthetics alone is unbelievably stunning. The team went to remote locations to film for this game which was a great effort made by them.

The game have Battlefield-sized maps but a Call of Duty feel. Unlike the other Battlefronts this one does not have a Campaign mode where there is a set story or a Galactic Conquest mode where you conquer and crush the rival faction. To be honest, this is just a Call of Duty game that has the size of a Battlefield map under the name of Battlefront.

The aerial battles have the lack of capital ships , which took out the fun of space battles. The modes were generally normal, with a few fun ones such as Hero Hunt. Game play wise, the Rebels have the advantage over the Imperials due to the Rebels being camouflaged.

When it comes to Heroes, the Imperials has the edge over the Rebels. The major issue with the game is its unbelievably shallow amount of content and the lack of depth. I mean this is just like Need for Speed, without Xbox Live or PSN, you will not be able to play. The singleplayer modes feel like they were bolted on for the sake of singleplayer. To be honest, this game feels rushed for the sake of Star Wars fans being hyped about The Force Awakens.

DICE made this game only good in its aesthetics, and that’s all. It immediately has a content drought the moment it was released. It has a price tag of 80SGD which is not worth the price, at all. The game would have been better if DICE did not rush it.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)

Plus Points +: John William’s beautiful music scores. The scenes fit the music so well that its jaw-dropping.
Negative Points –: Feels a lot like A New Hope. Story so far does not connect to Return of the Jedi. Captain Phasma, who is supposed to be this enigmatic person.

The Force Awakens is the latest entry to the Star Wars franchise. It is a beautiful continuation since Revenge of the Sith and it feels good the hear that iconic tune of Star Wars from the big screen. Even though there were some plot holes, it is still the best movie of 2015 without doubt. There were some hilarious jokes throughout the movie, even in emotional scenes.

*WARNING* From this point onwards, there WILL be spoilers. If you have not seen The Force Awakens, I advice you to not read the following.*WARNING*

It starts off abruptly at Jakku, where an enormous battle between the Rebels and the remnants of the Empire clashed with a Rebel victory, explaining the Imperial wreckage. It firsts show a hooded figure giving Poe (Oscar Issac) the final piece of the map to find Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). Shorty after the exchange the First Order stuck the village. The scene shows Finn (John Boyega) having morality overcome him when a wounded trooper put his bloodied hand on Finn’s helmet. Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) was then introduced and managed to use the Force to stop a laser fired by Poe which raised the hype – level for those in the theater. The First Order were massacred the villagers.

Finn later helped Poe to escape the Star Destroyer and into Jakku where they got split up. That is also when Finn met Rey (Daisy Ridley) where they escaped in the Millennium Falcon and got recaptured by Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew). After an attack, they all escaped to a planet with Han’s old friend, Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong’o) who talked some sense about the Force to Rey and handed her Anakin’s original Lightsaber.

At the same time, Kylo Ren ordered the destruction of the Republic system and fleet and fired their superweapon, which is basically Death Star version 3. But instead of a space station, it is an entire planet made into a weapon. The destruction of the system is visible from the planet where the heroes are on. Not long after both Resistance and First Order spy informed their respective factions, the First Order came first and wreck havoc to the little bar that Maz owns. That is also when the riot Stormtrooper appeared and dueled Finn. Not long after the defeat of the heroes, the Resistance X-Wing fighters came in with the awesome scene:

Gif courtesy:

It was a beautiful scene with dogfights with jaw-dropping camera angles. After the brief confrontation, Rey was captured while the General Leia (Carrie Fisher) evacuate the remaining heroes of the planet and to the Resistance base on D’Qar. Rey was taken to the Superweapon base and was getting her mind read by Ren. Rey however resisted Kylo’s force abilities. Due to his nature, Kylo threw a tantrum and pretty much destroyed the entire cell that was holding Rey captive. After the departure of Kylo, Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) wanted to see Rey face-to-face. However Rey escaped by using a Jedi mind trick to escape. At the same time, the Resistance learnt about the foreshadowing attack from the First Order and started planning how to destroy the superweapon. After the planning, Han, Finn and Chewbacca manged to infiltrate Starkiller’s defenses. As Han questions Finn about the layout of the base, Finn confessed to Han that he worked at the Starkiller as a sanitary worker, which is one of the humorous scenes of the movie. Not long after, the trio went in and jumped the lonely Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) and ordered her to be dumped into a trash chute. Afterwards, they shut down most of the defenses, which allowed the Resistance to strike the base. At the same time, the trio found Rey who was escaping to base, but she did not see them and reached the surface. The trio went into a part of the base which is very vital to the superweapon the First Order has and the destruction of it. As Han and Chewbacca went in to place charges to destroy a big part of it, but were confronted by Kylo.

*This is going to be the biggest spoiler in the movie so far, brace yourself*

Han approaches Kylo and shouted his real name which is Ben, that triggered the most emotional scenes of the entire movie. As father and son talked about returning to the light, Kylo killed Han while he was so immersed. Chewbacca shot Kylo and blew up the facility. They both escaped to the surface and Finn attacked Kylo with a lightsaber. While that happens, the Resistance fighters have taken too  much of a toll, and Finn lost the battle to Kylo. Rey picks up his lightsaber and dueled with Kylo. Even without training, she managed to hurt Kylo quite a bit. At the same time, Poe has managed to destroy the facility, which started the destruction of the base. As Rey and Kylo fought, they both lost their lightsaber but Rey manage to get her lightsaber and defeat Kylo. She left Kylo after that. Rey, Finn and Chewbacca escaped with the Millennium Falcon. The Resistance celebrated the victory, but the surviving protagonist wept for Han’s demise. R2D2 also awakens which led Rey to Luke.

After finding Luke, Rey hands him his lightsaber and the credits rolls.

This is a movie that one should not miss especially if you’re a Star Wars fan or is looking for a really cool movie for enjoyment. Though it is not the best movie of the Star Wars series in my opinion, it leagues better than Star Wars Rebels. With that said, the DVD or Blu-ray versions have not been sold yet.

Rebirth EP

Rebirth is Rezonate’s latest EP, though it was about 11 months ago. If you have been an old timer on Monstercat, you should know Rezonate pretty well. With a ‘story-like’ of songs he released, this is no doubt a sequel to Shake it Off by Rezonate himself.

Link: Rezonate- Rebirth (featuring Ashley Apollodor)

The first song of the EP is conveniently named Rebirth. The start of the song has a piano tune to make your mind relax. Up to the vocals, the tune you are hearing is the staple tune for pretty much the next five minutes.Rezonate’s vocals are unbelievably good in this song, which is surprising as Rezonate is not a vocalist himself. As the song progresses, the featured voclist Ashley Apollodor starts singing right after Rezonate’s lines end. Her vocals are complimented with a guitar playing the staple tune of the song, with both the music and her voice combined, it has no doubt this song is liked by quite some Monstercat fans till this day.Her lines were short but it was beautiful. After which will be the drop. The drop was more or less similar to most parts of the song(to keep the carnival-like theme).Immediately after the drop will be Rezonate’s vocals again. It’s pretty much the same thing after Rezonate’s vocals. With a piano outro, this is no doubt the best song in the EP.

Link: Rezonate – The Only Road (featuring Danyka Nadeau)

The queen of Monstercat vocals returns again. With a loud start and the usual usage of Danyka’s  vocals in a ‘pop’ like style. For this first minute or so, the ‘pop’ vocals is basically what you will be hearing. The buildup after Dankya’s vocals is not anywhere near intense or an actual buildup, probably to fit with the style of the EP. Unlike Rebirth, the drop is repetitive probably due to its genre. After the drop its pretty much the same thing. This song ends with the drop which is something I do not usually see. This is one of those ‘Danyka Nadeau’ songs with awesome vocals. That’s all.

Link: Rezonate – What We Want (featuring Aloma Steele)

It starts off with the usual future bass, chirpy tune for a solid 30 seconds before Aloma’s vocals comes in.Her vocals were soft and negligible at the start but later on, it becomes louder and that is pretty much what you will hear. After her vocals, it would be the typical future bass drop which is chirpy and not so ‘bassy’.Immediately after the drop will be Aloma’s vocals again. For most of the remaining songs, it’s Aloma’s vocals and a shorter version of the drop.

This is the outro to the EP, which is acoustic. It is really calming with the especially similar tunes to Rebirth.Even though it is very short, it is still a beautifully made song.

Need for Speed(2015)

No matter how much hate Electronic Arts may get form their way of business, there is no doubt that Need for Speed(NFS) is one of the only, if not only EA franchise that have not collected the hate of the gaming community. This game is developed by Ghost games and published by EA.

The Need for Speed last year takes place in the fictional city of Ventura Bay, with a very Los Angeles feel around it. Since 2010, this is the first NFS since that year to the import and tuner culture focus of NFS World. It has five main elements of the game, Speed, which should be no surprise due to the game’s name.Style, which has like a Tokyo Drift feeling to it.Build, which is basically the car’s statistics and  aesthetic. Crew, which is playing with other players around the world. And finally Outlaw, where you trash the city up and mess with the cops.

The game has 5 intertwined story line, using the five in game elements with 5 different partners trying to impress someone big.Aesthetic wise, this game is beautiful, no matter which next gen platform you play on.Gameplay however, is still the same from the old NFS Underground with better controls and an unbelievably steep difficulty gradient. Unlike the old NFSs where you have to break the X button or A button to drive, the game uses the right triggers instead. The game also has a ‘leveling up’ system, which one could easily reach to the high end item with very little play through.Sometimes during the story, the mission needs you to do something really difficult that casual players usually would pull thier hair out. A bad thing about the game is also its ‘always online’ , meaning if you do not own a membership to Xbox Live or PSN, you cannot play.

All in all,Ghost Games made a good game that rebooted a franchise that I grew up with.If you really want a NFS game to play and enjoy yourself with other random people, this is the game to pick up.

Bose SoundTrue In-Ear

As Bose SoundTrue In-Ear nears its retirement, there is no denial that this pair of earphones are really comfortable.Unlike other earphone that has a earbud stuck in your ear, this ‘open’ design basically hangs on the edge of your ears loosely.

Most of Bose’s ‘open’ earphones does not feature noise cancellation with the exception of QuietComfort 20, which costs considerably more than the rest. With this pair costing 186SGD with an inline microphone or 143SGD without it. As this phases out certain colours have a 30% discount online, making them good deals. The buds basically cling around the sides of your ears and does not fall off when running wire which is a good thing for athletic people, but it is not sweat resistant.

The SoundSport In-Ear comes with a round neoprene carrying case (plus a carabiner) while the SoundTrue In-Ear and Freestyle ship with a larger, rectangular case. The design of the remote is well done. The buttons are easy to feel, hence operation by feel is much easier.Call quality was also good, and this headphone works well as a substitute headset. The plug is not l-shaped but straight, which in theory, should be more sturdy. The straight plug is compact, so it’s designed to work with most cell-phone cases.

Performance wise, this uses the same driver as other Bose open earbud-style headphones.Bose does a good job making smooth-sounding headphones that are pretty well balanced with good bass performance. The headphones are like a Jack-of-all-trades headphones, not limited to a specific music genre. If you like to blast loud music, this may disappoint you.The top volume is 10 to 20 percent softer than a lot of in-ears on the market. With a sound-isolating in-ear headphone like the Ultra, you also get some cord noise when the cord rubs against your clothes. The open design of the SoundTrue, SoundSport, and Freestyle In-Ears eliminates the cord noise but lets ambient noise in.

If you really want or need a pair of high quality headphones or like Bose products, this may be a cheap grab for you, especially if you were to buy it online with the discounted colours. I would personally buy this for the cheap price if a have a lack of headphone or earphone to use.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ is not just a larger version of the original Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. In fact, it is just a small upgrade from its smaller counterpart, it adds a shortcut menu to the edge screen for quickly opening apps, in addition to the existing menu for contacting your favorite people.

Sharing the exact same specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5,  which includes a strong 16-megapixel camera, 4GB of RAM and an octa-core processor of Samsung’s own design (that means it has eight computing chips for completing tasks). Besides its snazzier design, though, the Edge+ lacks the Note 5’s signature stylus. That leaves potential buyers having to choose between the Edge+’s inviting curves or the Note 5’s scribble-friendly practicality.

As of now, the S6 Edge+ comes in gold, silver, black and white, though different regions may carry different colors. Prices vary by retailer and country, but this Edge+ will cost more than the Note 5 overall. The design of the Edge+ are as follows:5.7-inch display; 2,560×1,440 pixels (518 pixels per inch), metal and glass construction, 6.1 by 3 by 0.3 inches (154 by 76 by 6.9mm), weighs 5.4 ounces (153 grams). If the regular Edge’s curved screen and thin edges are familiar to you, you should know how the Edge+ looks like.

Unlike the other Galaxies, this one does not have a removeable battery or microSD card. The curves on the screen, unlike previous curved-screen Galaxies, are not merely ‘cosmetic’ but a function. A special display utilises the curves on the screen.Hence, it hides from view until you pull it out, so most of the time, you don’t see it. When you do want to summon the edge display (which you can now do from any screen, not just the home screen, as was the case with the original S6 Edge), you grab a slim onscreen tab that tastefully lies low on whichever side you put it, and swipe to reveal the full menu. The settings menu also lets you turn on a newsfeed, so you can see various alerts and news headlines in the sidebar as well as through the customary notifications tray up top. The benefit here: the edge screen’s longer window lets you see more text, without expanding the alert the way you would with the notifications shade.

In my opinion, this is basically a Note 5 with a slighty larger Edge cover with extra features. Worth the price of more than the original Edge? If you really need a new phone and or have the money, this probably will suit you. If not, I’d say skip this phone.
