Destiny: Rise of Iron

The final chapter before Destiny 2 comes out, Rise of Iron focuses on bring nostalgia to old players in several ways and  explaining a group of people, known as Iron Lords. Their names plastered on high end weapons in Year 1.

The story summed up begins before the original events of Destiny occurs. The Iron Lords were searching for SIVA, a nanotechonogy that can make anything with direction. They found it, but a Warmind, Rasputin used it to attack the Iron Lords. In the end, only Lord Saladin, the protagonist survives. After the events of the Taken King, SIVA is rediscovered and reactivated by the Fallen, which corrupts a part of the land, now known as the Plaguelands. You will need to defend the old base of the Iron Lords and find the source of SIVA, stopping the production of the mites. In the last mission, you encountered SIVA-fied versions of the Iron Lords and kill them, putting them to peace.

Overall, the atmosphere of the expansion is quite medieval. The SIVA tendrils is a good contrast to the bleak snowy landscape in the Plaguelands. The Splicers, the enemy, is a modified version of the original Fallen which has new abilities that might surprise new or inexperienced players. The soundtrack is beautifully composed with a fan made track for one of the Strike bosses.

As of 2017, all Strikes are playable and remastered, letting new players enjoy and try out the original Strikes with an additional mechanics from old raids and more things to do to kill the boss. This keeps the idea of nostalgia really well. With raid mechanics, some might speculate that the old raids will be remastered.

The raid is one of the best in Destiny, being unforgiving but at the same time not mechanical and fun. The raid contains a secret, which requires the team to find certain monitors and activate them. To finish the puzzle, the team will also require knowledge in binary. The bosses are well designed and the rewards for completing the raid is very rewarding, giving you one of the best weapons in Destiny.

Being the last content update for Destiny, this is a well made and polished expansion for the last chapter of Destiny.

The price of the expansion alone is 30 SGD and the full collection which includes all other expansions costs 50 SGD.
